Offer Description

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) with the University of Burgos (UBU) as host institution.
The proposed fellowship will be hosted by a research group specialized in civil and criminal judicial cooperation within the European Union, with a particular focus on procedural instruments, mutual recognition, and the construction of the European Area of Justice.

If the candidate obtains the MSCA PF fellowship, he/she will actively conduct research on EU judicial cooperation mechanisms in civil and/or criminal matters, contributing to the analysis of European procedural instruments, legislative harmonisation, and the functioning of mutual recognition in cross-border cases. In addition, contributions are expected in the interpretation of legal developments and case law, preparation of high-quality scientific publications, and collaboration in competitive national and European research projects. He/she will work in this research group:

The Universidad de Burgos (UBU) is a medium-sized public university located in Burgos, Spain. Founded in 1994, UBU is a young and dynamic institution with more than 8,000 students across seven faculties.

UBU has a strong track record in European research programmes, currently participating in over 40 active EU-funded projects and coordinating several of them.

UBU hosts more than 90 recognised research groups across five major academic areas, including a well-established research environment in European Union Law and procedural law.

Grant Call Details

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) are among the most prestigious European funding schemes supporting researchers' careers through international mobility, excellence in research, and interdisciplinary training.

The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship (PF) programme allows experienced researchers (PhD holders) to develop an independent research project in collaboration with a host institution and an academic supervisor.

Proposals should include a robust training-through-research plan, integrating:

- Scientific excellence in EU law and procedural justice
- Advanced research and transferable skills development
- International, interdisciplinary, and policy-relevant research

- Civil and criminal judicial cooperation in the European Union
- Mutual recognition of judicial decisions
- European procedural law and procedural safeguards
- EU Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (AFSJ)

- Harmonisation vs. mutual trust in EU procedural instruments
- Impact of EU law on national judicial systems

Specific Requirements

Applicants must:

- Hold a PhD in Law, preferably with specialization in EU Law, Procedural Law, or related areas
- Comply with the MSCA mobility rule (not having resided or worked in Spain for more than 12 months during the last 3 years)
- Demonstrate a strong research profile in EU law and judicial cooperation
- Show high motivation and capacity to develop an independent research project
- Spanish language skills are an asset (not mandatory)

Benefits

Monthly salary: 5.726,44€ (gross salary)+ 710€ (mobility allowance) + 660€ (family allowance)

Duration: 24 months.
