Position Summary The DC CSA Superintendent is responsible for managing the on-site delivery of civil and structural works during the construction phase of IREN’s next-generation, renewable-powered data center projects. The role ensures that earthworks, foundations, structural systems, building envelope, roads, drainage, utilities interfaces, external works, and associated site activities are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, permitting requirements, and the operational needs of high-performance compute environments.
This role contributes to the successful delivery of IREN’s Spain data center projects by supervising civil and structural contractors, coordinating site logistics and work sequencing, managing interfaces with MEP, architectural, utilities, commissioning, and operations teams, monitoring quality and safety performance, resolving field issues, and ensuring that C&S; works are completed to support reliable, scalable, durable, and safe mission-critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the General superintendent the DC CSA Superintendent is responsible for:
- Manage the on-site execution of civil and structural works by coordinating earthworks, foundations, concrete structures, steel structures, building envelope, roads, drainage, utilities interfaces, external works, and enabling works to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of data center facilities.
- Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and site teams by monitoring progress, productivity, manpower, equipment, materials, work fronts, installation standards, and adherence to approved construction schedules, drawings, method statements, and execution plans.
- Coordinate civil and structural interfaces with MEP, architectural, utilities, logistics, commissioning, operations, consultants, vendors, and local stakeholders by aligning sequencing, access, temporary works, permits, inspections, and handover requirements.
- Review and implement construction documentation by checking drawings,
specifications, RFIs, shop drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, permits, quality records, and site instructions to ensure compliance, constructability, and traceability of C&S; works.
- Monitor quality, safety, and environmental performance by supporting inspections, audits, toolbox talks, NCR resolution, snagging, risk assessments, and corrective actions to ensure that civil and structural activities comply with project, regulatory, and IREN standards.
- Identify and resolve site issues, constraints, deviations, and coordination risks by assessing impacts on cost, schedule, quality, safety, constructability, commissioning, and future operations, and by escalating critical matters for timely decision making.
- Support project controls and reporting by providing progress updates, lookahead planning inputs, productivity information, risk and issue updates, change inputs, material delivery status, inspection readiness, and handover documentation for civil and structural packages.
- Promote continuous improvement and effective site coordination by sharing lessons learned, strengthening construction routines, supporting collaboration across disciplines, and ensuring alignment with IREN’s sustainability, reliability, scalability, and high-performance infrastructure standards.
Requirements
- At least 8–10 years of experience in civil and structural site management, construction supervision, or field engineering, preferably within data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial infrastructure, energy projects, logistics buildings, or large-scale commercial construction.
- Degree or technical qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering,
Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical discipline; relevant certifications in construction safety, site management, quality, temporary works, or project management are well regarded.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil works, structural systems, earthworks, foundations, concrete and steel structures, building envelope, drainage, roads, utilities interfaces, temporary works, site logistics, permitting conditions, and construction sequencing.
- Solid understanding of construction-phase delivery, including contractor supervision, field coordination, method statements, inspection and test plans, quality control, HSE requirements, schedule control, change management, site reporting, and handover documentation.
- Ability to read, interpret, and challenge civil and structural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, permits, schedules, quality records, and technical submissions with strong attention to constructability, safety, interfaces, and operational readiness.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, civil and structural standards, environmental requirements, fire and life safety considerations, data center construction practices, and sustainability objectives applicable to mission-critical infrastructure.
- Hands-on, organized, proactive, and results-driven profile, with strong leadership, communication, coordination, problem-solving, planning, negotiation, documentation, and decision-making skills, and the ability to manage multiple contractors and work fronts in fast-paced site environments.
