The role

TMRW Silicon is looking for a graduate or early-career IP professional (up to 3 years' experience) with an interest to start a career at the cutting edge of technology.

This is an on-site role, working every day alongside our teams. Reporting directly to the Senior IP Counsel, with a dotted line to the Group Head of Legal, you'll work side by side with a top R&D; team of engineers and scientists on pioneering technology projects.

Candidate will support the legal and IP team in helping capture and protect new inventions, from the lab to the market and in maintaining, protecting, improving and commercialising TMRW Silicon's significant IP portfolio.

Key responsibilities

- Invention capture: Work day to day with R&D; engineers and researchers to find and document inventions. Run invention disclosure reviews and assess whether inventions can be patented.
- Patent portfolio: Support drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications (EPO, USPTO, PCT and national routes) with outside patent attorneys. Track deadlines, office actions, annuities and renewals.
- Searches and freedom to operate: Run or coordinate prior-art, patentability and freedom-to-operate searches in semiconductors, photonics and plasmonics. Summarise the results for the legal team and the engineers.
- Competitor watch: Monitor competitor patents and the wider technical landscape. Flag risks, opportunities and possible infringement.
- Trade secrets: Help set up and maintain trade-secret protection, including confidentiality procedures, access controls and lab documentation practices.
- Agreements:



Help draft and review IP-related contracts, such as: NDAs with foundries, suppliers and partners
- Trademarks and domains: Support filings and maintenance of TMRW Silicon's brand, trademarks and domain names.
- Enforcement and disputes: Help the Senior IP Counsel with oppositions, invalidity actions and infringement matters.
- Portfolio admin: Keep the IP inventory and docket accurate. Manage IP invoices, budgets and outside-counsel instructions.
- Commercial use of IP: Support licensing, partnerships and IP-related due diligence for financing or corporate deals.
- Training: Help deliver IP awareness training for the R&D; teams.

Profile – must have

- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- Able to work on-site in Valencia.
- One of the following:
- a degree in electrical or electronic engineering, physics, materials science, photonics or a related field, plus an IP master's or equivalent IP training, or
- a law degree with an IP specialisation (for example an LL.M. or a Máster en Propiedad Industrial e Intelectual), plus a real interest in, and ideally some grounding in, science and technology.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience, for example an internship, traineeship or first role at a patent attorney firm, an IP law firm, a tech company's IP team, a university tech-transfer office or an IP office. Strong graduates are welcome to apply.
- Able to understand complex technical material quickly and explain it clearly to lawyers and to engineers.
- Very organised and precise, with a strong sense of deadlines.
- Curious, pragmatic and collaborative, and excited to work next to engineers on cutting-edge technology.

Nice to have

- Fluency in Spanish. Other languages are a plus.
- Some exposure to deep tech, semiconductors, photonics, nanotechnology or chip design.
- A master in intellectual property and/or having started a European or Spanish patent attorney qualification (EQE, or Agente de la Propiedad Industrial), or planning to.
- Experience with patent databases (for example Espacenet, PATENTSCOPE, INVENES, Orbit or Derwent) or IP docketing tools.
