ABOUT THE ROLE

Pimientos Asados Games is an independent studio based in Valencia, Spain, developing WE ARE TITANS: a single-player, isometric dark-fantasy action RPG in which players pilot massive medieval, rune-powered Titans in weighty, skill-based combat against Colossus.

We’re looking for a hands-on Lead Unreal Gameplay Programmer to take technical ownership of our existing Unreal Engine 5 prototype, guide priorities with the Game Director and build towards a cohesive December 2026 milestone and a maintainable foundation for a subsequent vertical slice.

Movement, camera and core combat are already in place. Marcus’s Titan is entering 3D production, with an animator ready for rigging and animation. We need you involved now: defining requirements, testing early assets in-engine and helping our partners iterate before final delivery.

This is not a one-off animation integration task or a full rewrite. You will take responsibility for how the gameplay, character assets and existing mechanics work together.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Review the prototype, identify technical risks and dependencies, and agree development priorities with the Game Director.
- Own the rig and animation integration cycle: requirements, early UE5 testing, feedback to the modeller and animator, and validation before final delivery.
- Integrate the Titan mesh, rig and animation pack; refine Animation Blueprints, Montages, notifies, transitions, sockets and attachments.
- Develop movement and combat as connected systems: attacks, block/parry, counterattacks, dash, stagger, executions and ability interactions.
- Test real gameplay encounters, resolve timing, collision,

hit-reaction and state/interruption issues, and integrate supplied audio and VFX.
- Preserve useful prototype work, make targeted technical improvements and maintain stable packaged Windows builds, an editable project and clear documentation.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Senior-level Unreal Engine gameplay experience and hands-on technical ownership in a small team.
- Strong Blueprint skills and some C++, with sound judgement when assessing and improving an existing project.
- Proven character-animation integration experience, including rig requirements and iterative in-engine validation.
- Experience with action combat, character controllers or other timing-sensitive, animation-driven gameplay, and the ability to anticipate how changes affect the whole experience.
- Strong debugging, version control and communication skills; reliable planning within an agreed hours budget and early communication of risks.

NICE TO HAVE

Lead or sole-programmer experience; taking an indie prototype towards a vertical slice; ARPG or sword-and-shield combat; mechs or heavy playable characters; coordinating external character-production partners; Niagara/gameplay VFX or Perforce.

THE COLLABORATION

Paid freelance work, starting as soon as possible.

We begin with a small paid technical review and an agreed allocation of hours per month, billed at an hourly rate.

As the collaboration grows, we aim to move to a fixed monthly fee for a defined time commitment and scope. Freelance work is paid independently of future funding.

Remote, with regular overlap with European working hours and timely coordination with our modeller and animator. Candidates based in Spain, particularly Catalonia, are strongly preferred; applicants elsewhere are welcome.

Initial goal: a cohesive playable prototype in December 2026 to validate core combat and support funding discussions for a subsequent vertical slice. The December milestone is not the vertical slice itself.

LONGER-TERM OPPORTUNITY

As we build the studio’s core team from December 2026, this collaboration offers a path towards a longer-term lead programming role, subject to funding, project needs and mutual fit. Successful collaboration before then will be a significant advantage, but future employment is not guaranteed.

HOW TO APPLY

Send your CV or LinkedIn profile, portfolio and one or two relevant gameplay examples to [email protected], explaining your personal contribution. Please include:

- Your hourly rate and indicative monthly fee for a stated time commitment.
- Earliest start date and reliable hours per month through December 2026.
- Your location/time zone and availability to coordinate with our production partners.
- A brief example of technical ownership and your interest in a longer-term core-team role.
