Avatia builds AI coworkers that augment pharma commercial teams. We believe patients shouldn't have to wait for medicines that already exist — and that what increasingly limits impact isn't the science, but how well commercial teams can reach and serve healthcare professionals at scale. Our platform acts as an AI operating layer between pharma and healthcare professionals: it helps teams plan, prepare, and execute high-impact interactions, always human-guided and compliant by design.

We're an early-stage, founder-led company combining deep pharma, AI, and digital-health experience, building production-grade agentic AI for a regulated industry.

We write the harness, steer the agents, and take responsibility for what comes out. The craft here is in the prompting, the architecture, the judgment calls, and the system-level thinking.

What you'll do

· Define the harness: design the scaffolding, constraints, and feedback loops that let AI agents produce reliable, production-grade output

· Steer across the full stack — infrastructure, backend, mobile — knowing enough to direct well and catch what goes wrong

· Make the architecture and security decisions that agents can't: what gets built, how systems are isolated, what the failure modes are

· Integrate AI-powered features — agents, voice, automation — as a first-class part of the product

· Debug across layers when outputs break:



diagnosis still requires a human who understands the whole system and the goal

· Handle data and security constraints with care — we operate in a multi-tenant, regulated context where this is non-negotiable

What we're looking for

· Engineering depth broad enough to steer agents across infrastructure, backend, and mobile — and to know when the output is wrong

· A mental model of how systems fail — this is how you catch what the agent missed

· Experience building with AI/agent tooling or LLM APIs — you've already thought about what they get wrong

· Genuine interest in AI as a craft: agents, LLMs, voice — and intellectual honesty about their limits

· Comfort operating with a direction rather than a blueprint

· Security and data handling judgment by default — in a multi-tenant, regulated environment, this can't be delegated to an agent

· The ability to write the harness: clear constraints, good evals, useful feedback — the meta-skill this role runs on

· Experience with voice agents or conversational AI — you understand the added complexity of real-time, spoken interactions

Nice to have

· Familiarity with compliance requirements from an engineering implementation angle

· Experience with multi-tenant SaaS or strong isolation patterns

What this role looks like day to day

· Wide scope: infrastructure, backend, mobile, AI integrations — all in play

· High autonomy, low scaffolding — you'll self-direct more than at a larger company

· Output measured in systems that work and decisions well made, not in code written

· Locations: Barcelona (BCN) — offices at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center AI Factory in the city center

· Work policy: Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)
