SEC Newgate EU is a Brussels-based advocacy and communications consultancy, part of the SEC Newgate Group which has a general footprint.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with strong expertise in Belgian accounting, statutory compliance and management reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in running our day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, supporting business operations and serving as a trusted partner to management and the SEC Newgate Group Finance team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage the company's day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, invoice processing and payment runs.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure the timely recording of accounting transactions in Odoo.
- Coordinate client billing and revenue recognition processes in collaboration with consulting teams
- Prepare monthly management accounts and coordinate the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and submit VAT and intra-community VAT declarations, annual VAT listings, and other statutory filings.
- Prepare financial reports and analyses to support management decision-making.
- Coordinate the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors, tax advisers and banking partners.
- Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc financial reporting to the SEC Newgate Group,



ensuring compliance with Group reporting requirements and reporting deadlines.
- Participate in budget development by analysing financial data, tracking expenses, and providing insights to support budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Work closely with the CEO, the external Financial Controller and the SEC Newgate Group Finance team to ensure compliance with corporate reporting requirements.
- Monitor cash positions, support cash flow planning and treasury management.
- Prepare the statutory annual accounts and support the preparation of the corporate income tax return.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls and financial reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably within an international corporate or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting standards, VAT and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems; Odoo experience is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluent in English and French; Italian or Dutch is an asset.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and organisational abilities.

- Ability to translate financial information into clear and actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work proactively, autonomously and as part of a team.
