As a Group role within Cementir Holding, the position will directly report to the Group Quarry & Aggregates Director based at the Group Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The successful candidate will be based at Compagnie des Ciments Belges (CCB), Cementir Holding’s Belgian subsidiary located in Gaurain-Ramecroix, Tournai,with a local Belgian employment contract. CCB is a leading producer of cement, ready-mixed concrete, and aggregates, operating one of the largest and most efficient cement plants in the Walloon Region.
Reporting directly to the Group Quarry and Aggregates Director, the incumbent will support the definition, standardization and monitoring of quarry and aggregates performance across all Business Units. The role contributes to the technical governance of major projects and CAPEX initiatives by providing structured performance analytics, benchmarking, technical and engineering input (including design and feasibility support) and execution follow-up to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and Group standards. In pursuing such a goal, he/she partners with Local Quarry & Aggregates teams and relevant cross-functional stakeholders to enable safe, efficient, compliant and sustainable operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop/improve, implement, and monitor KPIs to assess operational efficiency, cost performance, resource utilization, and environmental performance for both mining operations and the aggregate business;
- Provide actionable recommendations to optimize OPEX, enhance productivity and performance improvement and contribute to the definition, prioritization and monitoring of improvement initiatives;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices in quarrying and aggregate production processes, bottlenecks identification, improving throughput, and ensuring optimal resource utilization;
- Identify opportunities for innovation,
automation and digital tools to improve efficiency and performance, safety, operations management and performance monitoring/reporting activities;
- Work closely with local teams to evaluate and support CAPEX feasibility studies, developing business cases by providing technical insights, ensuring alignment with Group targets;
- Monitor and support strategic initiatives (including CAPEX) for efficient and timely implementation;
- Contribute to industrial roadmaps, industrial plans, and budgets, ensuring CAPEX planning is well established and in line with Group strategy and that risks & opportunities, initiatives, and actions are clearly identified to secure long-term sustainable raw material resources for clinker/cement and aggregate production;
- Support monitoring and reporting of long-term raw material resources, ensuring accuracy and reliability;
- Monitor and support key permitting processes (renewals or new permits), requiring strategic management and coordination with internal and external stakeholders;
- Support resilience, monitoring and reporting processes related to CSRD and Sustainability Reporting (rehabilitation and biodiversity);
- Conduct opportunity analysis and evaluation to support Group emission reduction targets, considering quarry and aggregate operations;
- Support strategic acquisition initiatives by preparing/reviewing technical inputs as requested;
- Provide training and support as required to improve quarry and aggregates performance management practices.
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS):
- Ensure activities comply with Group/company policies, rules and legal requirements;
- Enforce safe work practices and stop work in unsafe situations;
- Ensure hazard identification and risk management measures apply;
- Ensure the use of personal protective equipment;
- Participate in OHS training;
- Fulfill OHS management system responsibilities (e.g., work permit, emergency procedure, etc.);
- Report incidents and unsafe situations;
- Participate in investigations and take measures to prevent recurrence;
- Promote a culture of safety through dialogue and example.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field qualifications;
- 3-5 years experience in mining and/or aggregates, or construction industry focusing on extraction activities;
- Understanding of KPIs development, benchmarking, and performance analysis;
- Project management and execution skills;
- Knowledge of aggregate processing equipment, mining machinery, and process optimization dynamics;
- Ability to work across different regions and cultural environments and to collaborate effectively with a proactive mindset;
- Travel availability: 50%
- Proficient in English;
- Proficiency in Excel and knowledge of other data visualization tools;
- Plus (preferred): Knowledge of spatial data software such as Surpac, AutoCad 3D, or similar;
- Knowledge of mine scheduling software such as MineSched or similar;
- Understanding of permitting, compliance and legal frameworks in extractive industries;
- Knowledge of geology, geophysics, resource/reserve concepts and mine-life planning;
- Familiarity with AI tools and data-driven performance or optimization applications.
