Retail Learning Manager
Brussels, Belgium | Permanent Position
About the Role :
OBM Consultancy is supporting a leading international luxury Maison in the recruitment of a Retail Learning Manager based in Brussels.
Reporting to the Retail Director, the Retail Learning Manager will oversee and drive learning activities across a network of 13 stores in eight countries, covering the Benelux, Nordics and Poland.
The role is responsible for designing and delivering the regional learning strategy to support commercial performance, elevate the client experience and strengthen the capabilities of retail teams.
This is not a traditional HR-based learning position. It is a highly operational and business-focused role requiring a strong presence on the shop floor, extensive product knowledge and a genuine understanding of luxury retail performance.
The Retail Learning Manager will lead and develop a team of five Field Coaches while working closely with Store Managers across the region.
Key Responsibilities :
Coaching and Learning
- Define and execute regional learning priorities according to the specific needs of each store.
- Build and embed a strong culture of in-store coaching.
- Maintain an active presence on the shop floor to observe client interactions and identify development opportunities.
- Support Field Coaches and Store Managers in coaching individual team members.
- Conduct team gap analyses and help Store Managers build individual coaching plans.
- Coach Store Managers on how to strengthen selling skills and team performance.
- Provide regular feedback to Store Managers and HR regarding employee development and progress.
- Translate client experience and retail performance results into concrete action plans.
- Drive key learning initiatives through sustained in-store coaching and positive recognition.
- Ensure Store Management teams have clear visibility of learning activities, progress, priorities and required actions.
- Monitor the quality and long-term impact of in-store learning across the region.
Learning Coordination, Development and Delivery
- Partner with HR to ensure proactive onboarding planning and consistent follow-up for new employees.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate established retail learning programmes.
- Work closely with Merchandising teams to deliver product learning for new collections and launches.
- Combine product knowledge with selling skills to support silhouette building, cross-selling and an elevated client experience.
- Use role-playing and on-the-floor coaching to ensure the practical application of learning content.
- Partner with central and regional Learning teams to implement, develop and assess existing and new corporate programmes.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop five Field Coaches across the region.
- Provide direction, feedback and ongoing support according to local store needs.
- Support Field Coaches with country-level projects, including store openings and regional initiatives.
- Encourage the team to remain closely connected to clients, Store Managers and the realities of the shop floor.
- Use client feedback, retail trends and commercial insights to identify new learning opportunities and adapt existing content.
Idóneo Profile
- Significant experience as a Store Manager, Boutique Manager, Retail Trainer or Retail Learning professional within a highly brand-driven and fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience within luxury fashion, accessories, premium retail or hospitality.
- Strong operational understanding of store performance, product knowledge, client experience and team development.
- Proven experience delivering learning initiatives, including onboarding, briefings, workshops and in-store coaching.
- Strong coaching skills and the ability to lead and influence without relying solely on hierarchical authority.
- Confidence in providing constructive feedback at every level of an organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High levels of integrity, trust and cultural awareness.
- Comfortable working across multiple countries and cultures.
- Organised, adaptable and able to manage changing priorities.
- Willing and able to travel frequently throughout the eight-country network.
- Fluent English is essential. Knowledge of another regional language would be advantageous.
- A university degree is appreciated but not mandatory.
Location
- The position is based in Brussels, with a regular presence in Belgium required.
- Frequent travel across the regional store network.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Belgium.
