About the role

Location: Spain - 100% remote. Senior Backend Engineer focusing on high-performance systems and the foundation of Fever's platform.

What you will do

Onboarding (first month)

- Meet your buddy, team, and learn Fever's culture and work practices.
- Set up your local environment and become familiar with the Python-based stack, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
- Learn about architecture and observability tools while contributing small improvements and fixes.
- Run your first code in production and gain a clear understanding of delivery flow and processes.
- Complete onboarding and join your long-term squad to contribute to larger initiatives.

After 3 months

- Design and implement end-to-end features within your squad.
- Participate in architectural discussions and propose improvements across services and APIs.
- Work with event-driven systems, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Data, and other engineering teams to enhance the platform and developer experience.

After 6 months

- Take ownership of core components and evolve their architecture.
- Lead through code reviews, design sessions, and mentoring.
- Contribute to best practices in scalability, observability, and system design.
- Drive continuous improvement and impact high-performing services at scale.




- Become a domain expert, using business context and technical excellence to advance strategic initiatives.

About you

- Strong knowledge in building maintainable, scalable code with test-driven development and design patterns.
- Expertise in relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, handling high concurrency and high volume requests.
- Proficient with Datadog and other monitoring/profiling tools.
- Proficiency in business English.
- Preferable skills:
- Python (Django/FastAPI)
- PostgreSQL and Redis
- AWS, Docker, Kubernetes

Benefits & Compensation

- Base salary €50,000 - €75,000
- Total compensation €67,500 - €90,000 (including variable and stock options)
