ph3Job Description /h3pSP Head of Secondary School and Sixth Form Role Profile Purpose of Role In common with all members of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Secondary and Sixth Form is responsible for reviewing and revising school policies, and takes a whole school perspective and contributes to the strategic vision and planning of the School's development. /ph3ISP Principles /h3pBegin with our children and students. We positively engage with personal and professional development and school improvement. /ph3Teaching, Learning and Achievement /h3ulliBe responsible for all MLT members in Secondary and oversee their work in maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and achievement. /liliCommission and monitor baseline testing and the analysis of examination results. /liliOversee target setting and the tracking of pupils' performance. /liliLiaise with the Head of Admissions on suitability of applicants for School places. /liliOversee all entrance testing and alongside the Heads of Departments. /liliCommission annual reports from academic departments and compile an annual report on academic achievement to go to the Whole School Senior Leadership Team.
/li /ulh3Administration /h3ulliWrite the curriculum plan and commission the academic timetable each year. /liliOperations manage subject choices and the allocation of pupils to classes in all year groups. /liliManage and chair, MLT meetings and attend other meetings and conferences, both in and out of the School, as appropriate. /liliWork towards inspections and to help lead the school’s response to inspections. /liliBe aware of the requirements for good and outstanding and consistently work towards these standards in relation to the academic policies, procedures and expectations throughout secondary school and sixth form. /li /ulh3Staff /h3ulliBe responsible for the academic induction of new staff and for the development of the teaching abilities of all staff. /liliTo coordinate the programme of regular professional review of all teaching staff. /liliBe responsible for IPGCE and NQT trainees. /li /ulh3Communication /h3ulliManage the reporting of academic progress to parents. /liliOrganise the programme of parents' meetings. /liliCommunicate with parents both individually and in general on academic matters, explaining school policies and decisions. /liliCompile and publish information as required on the curriculum and on subject choices and content. /li /ulh3Finances and Facilities /h3ulliTake overall responsibility for the annual budgets of the academic departments, working closely with the heads of department and the Bursar. /liliMonitor and advise on the provision and maintenance of suitable teaching facilities, working closely with the heads of department. /li /ulh3Strategic /h3ulliDraw up, maintain and implement an academic curriculum development plan. /liliKeep abreast of national changes in curriculum policy and thinking and consider how best to respond to changes.
/liliWork closely with other senior colleagues on the general development of the school. /liliWork, with the Schools Senior Leadership Team, in maintaining the School as a leader both locally, nationally and internationally in educational performance, innovation and thinking. /li /ulh3Skills, Qualifications and Experience /h3ulliTo be able to identify strategic priorities and help to design tactics in order to achieve them. /liliTo be approachable to children, parents, and staff /liliTo be able to work as part of a team. /liliTo be able to lead and monitor the work of a team of teachers /liliTo give clear instructions to children and be organised in classroom management. /liliTo be adaptable, friendly and cooperative when working with colleagues. /liliTo communicate clearly and resolve any issues quickly and professionally. /liliTo communicate effectively in writing. /liliTo have excellent management skills and to be able to follow the school's disciplinary code. /liliSuccessful experience in teaching and Leadership in a UK/international school /liliTo be a fully qualified teacher /liliFurther qualifications and track record of professional development /li /ulh3ISP Leadership Competencies /h3ulli1.
