Prof. Mar Reguant is looking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to work with her at the Barcelona School of Economics on a project studying the energy transition.

The goal of this project is to build tools to better understand the economic impacts of the rapid transformation of electricity markets, and to help better design electricity markets going forward. The project will develop and implement novel statistical tools and structural models that contribute to our understanding of this rapid transformation. The research focuses both on firm strategic responses and investment (supply-side), as well as consumer behavior and welfare and distributional impacts (demand-side).

The tools and models developed will help understand the impacts of the energy transition, both on the supply and the demand side.

The candidate will work closely with Prof. Reguant and the other members of the BSE Energy Research Group. The successful applicant should have a strong commitment to research in Environmental Economics or Industrial Organization. The candidate is expected to conduct independent research, collaborate with other research projects and participate in group activities such as seminars, reading groups, and workshops.





The applicant will join a vibrant Economics community in Barcelona and have opportunities to get involved with the academic life at the Barcelona School of Economics.

This is a seven-month position starting on February 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on available funding and performance.
