Job Description

This role will lead the development, implementation, and management of processes, tools, and trainings relating to export compliance at the Teledyne FLIR Solutions site in Madrid, with additional support required at other Teledyne locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure legal compliance and provide export support within government rules and regulations, including appropriate export licensing for Spain and other Teledyne locations.
- Develop, implement, enhance, and maintain trade compliance management systems, policies, department procedures, and work instructions.
- Serve as a Spanish and US export regulations expert and provide guidance to non‑US based business stakeholders.
- Implement standard practices and training programs that align with corporate trade compliance program requirements.
- Support trade compliance internal and external audits at Solutions and Digital Imaging locations.
- Support GTC investigation team in reviews and corrective action management.
- Act as a liaison between business functions including Contracts, Business Development, HR, and Engineering.
- Lead trade compliance‑related process improvement initiatives.




- Maintain effective relationships with business senior leadership and stakeholders and inform them of statutory or regulatory changes.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional business groups to compliantly process international shipments according to the law and company policy.
- Coordinate with customs team and guide business on customs issues including HS classification, valuation, carnets, and country of origin determination.
- Prepare all required export documentation to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualities and Experience

- Knowledge of Spanish, EU & US Export Laws and Regulations.
- Strong computer skills with SAP (GTS module), Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; SharePoint experience beneficial.
- Experience with auditing for implementation of trade compliance initiatives.
- Experience collecting and analyzing data and preparing concise, timely reports.
- Ability to distill and communicate complex legal or technical issues into clear, understandable language.
- Knowledge of industry practices.
- Experience solving complex problems using collaborative techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (or equivalent education and experience).
- Proven direct experience with International Trade Regulations and/or Compliance.




- Spanish citizenship or citizenship of an EU‑member country.

Key Skills and Competencies

- Strong leadership skills; previous program or project management experience highly desired.
- Experience in a high‑tech, defence, or aerospace firm with large shipment volume and licensing.
- Expertise in end‑use/end‑user assurance requirements and procedures in various national jurisdictions, including the EU and the United States.
- Extensive experience dealing with Spanish military and EU Dual‑Use products and multilateral control regimes.
- Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, OFAC Sanctions, and Anti‑Boycott requirements preferable.
- Knowledge of customs requirements including HS classification, valuation, country of origin, and carnets.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Willingness to lead, create new ideas, and be assertive.
- Ability to serve as a resource to others in resolving complex problems and issues.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines; ability to make sound, timely business decisions.
