ppWe’re looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our RD team in Granada, Spain. /ppOur Technology: /ppWe’re the world leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (R-PNT) solutions that improve the reliability, performance and safety of critical applications and high-risk operations, even in GPS/GNSS denied environments. We provide virtually fail-safe GNSS and PNT solutions for military and commercial applications worldwide. We have developed industry-leading solutions built around ultra-accurate synchronization (sub-ns) and frequency distribution services, delivering products and technical solutions based on the enhanced White Rabbit PTP synchronization technology for applications ranging from timing distribution in financial networks to robust and reliable positioning. Safran has expertise in Time Sensitive Networking through aerospace engagements with ESA to provide deterministic communications with zero-packet loss. We are a dynamic company focused on research and innovation for reliable timing at the core. /ppThe Position: /ppAs an Embedded Software Engineer, you will start working on a highly motivating engagement with the RD Engineering Team in Granada, Spain, where you will be expected to develop the main elements of a synchronization system that extends White Rabbit timing over a wireless interface. You will assist in the design, integration, and validation of the main software and embedded firmware elements of a prototype for wireless White Rabbit timing. This could include designing custom Linux kernel modules and drivers, specialized Linux images, user-level applications, software libraries, or test automation procedures. You will implement necessary extensions to our synchronization protocol to use the new wireless interface, and debug and diagnose issues during the design of these extensions.

Assembly of experimental demonstrators and travel to showcase proofs of concept might be required in the final stages of the project. /ppWhat you’ll be doing: /pulliDevelop software elements of our current embedded Timing products and next-generation Safran products, including custom kernel modules and extensions to our synchronization protocols. /liliValidate the software components you implement, ensure operation in embedded Linux, and debug complex issues arising from integration of multiple SW and FPGA elements on an embedded system. /liliCollaborate with Testing and Quality teams to ensure developments are produced according to specification. /liliApply critical thinking and problem-solving to ensure high-quality results within the project schedule, effort, and budget. /liliWork with the latest Resilient PNT and deterministic technologies. /li /ulpMain responsibilities: /pulliCarry out development tasks according to the project plan. /liliProvide workload estimates and plan work accordingly. /liliContribute to the development and validation of components. /liliEnsure deliverables meet quality through systematic unit testing. /liliParticipate in final qualification of deliverables, including documentation validation. /li /ulpWhat you Bring to Safran: /pulliMaster’s Degree in Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. /liliGood written and communication skills in English. /liliExperience in general software development, embedded Linux, software engineering, and Linux kernel driver development and debugging.

/liliAspiration to grow and develop professionally; ability to participate in ambitious projects with major international technology leaders. /li /ululliMinimum requirement of 1-2 years of experience in: /liulliEmbedded Linux generation tools and build systems (e.g., Buildroot, PetaLinux, etc.). /liliEmbedded software development and debugging for embedded Linux and standalone environments (e.g., microcontrollers, bare-metal for Xilinx devices). /liliWorking knowledge of debugging tools (GDB, DDD, Valgrind). /liliAutomation and scripting skills (e.g., bash, TCL). /liliKnowledge of main programming languages for embedded and agile prototyping, including C, C++, Python. /liliExperience with repositories and version control (Git, SVN). /li /ul /ululliDesirable experience in: /liulliLinux kernel network drivers, DMA modes, and custom kernel modifications. /liliEmbedded software development, testing, and debugging, including complex issues involving kernel, user applications, and FPGA IP modules. Prior knowledge of timing, synchronization and frequency dissemination protocols (e.g., PTP, NTP, SyncE) is beneficial. /liliExperience in designing and building RESTful APIs. /liliKnowledge of Xilinx architecture (e.g., Zynq-7000, UltraScale, Zynq MPSoC) is desirable. /li /ul /ulpThe key to our offer: /pulliBe part of a leading and expanding company. /liliHealth insurance. /liliFlexible work schedule. /liliInternational and dynamic environment in Granada, with some travel and collaboration with other teams in France and the United States. /liliHigh opportunities to grow inside the company. /liliProfessional Career Plan. /li /ulpSafran is an equal opportunity employer who does not discriminate based on race, color, citizenship, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran’s status or any protected category.
