At BOLD, we design and build the next generation of high-performance battery systems for the world’s most demanding industries — from Formula 1 and hypercars to aerospace, marine and defense.
Our mission: to deliver energy systems where every millisecond and every degree matter.
Technical Project Lead The Technical Project
Lead for Battery Design will play an integral role in bringing our batteries through design and into full production and delivery. They will support a talented and growing team of battery designers through the project gateways of multiple high-value battery design projects, including analysis and verification of initial specifications. Define and develop high-voltage battery system requirements, with a particular emphasis on functional safety and compliance with international safety standards.
Integrate safety considerations into the entire design process, including functional safety and hazard analysis, failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and fault tree analysis (FTA). Oversee the development and validation of electro-thermal battery computational models to ensure that safety and performance requirements are met. Define boundary conditions, input parameters, and interfaces for CAE activities, focusing on electrical, mechanical, and thermal integration.
Lead design reviews, safety analyses, and simulations to ensure that the system architecture meets all safety and performance criteria. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration of safety-critical systems.
Act as a key technical leader in cross-functional project teams, driving technical decisions and ensuring that safety considerations are prioritized throughout the product lifecycle. 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer or technical project leader for complex, safety-critical systems, particularly those involving electrical, electronic,
software, and mechanical components. ~ Proven experience in high-voltage battery system development, including safety analysis, design, and validation. Expertise in requirements-based engineering processes and the use of requirements management tools (Polarion, JAMA, DOORS, or similar). Strong experience with development-related analysis methods (FMEA, FTA, V-model) and system safety techniques.
Proficiency in system simulation and modelling tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink, and familiarity with programming languages like C++, Python, or equivalent. Fluent in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with general teams. Advanced experience in the design, development, and validation of high-voltage battery systems for automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications.
Expertise in the use of simulation tools and software development for battery management systems (BMS) and other safety-critical components. Private health insurance - Reduced cost for employees and family. Flexible work schedule and up to 5 remote days/month.
