The right candidate for this position will be based in bPorto, Portugal /b, or bMadrid, Spain /b. /p h3Our Projects Include /h3 ul liMine waste and tailings management studies /li liTailings storage facility design /li liMine site civil infrastructure design /li liMine closure planning and design /li liDam safety reviews and audits /li liGeotechnical investigations, assessments and analysis to support the above. /li /ul h3Essential Duties And Responsibilities /h3 pThis role focuses on supporting our client’s tailings and mine waste management teams to ensure that their facilities are safe. Compliance with the latest standards (which are evolving) is critical for mining companies to demonstrate their commitment to ESG and for the Social License to Operate. This role forms part of our team to provide the technical and operational support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs). /p pAs a Tailings / Geotechnical Engineer, this role requires the application of the tasks listed below (geotechnical engineer), but also an expanding knowledge of all elements and disciplines required to design these facilities,



such as hydrogeology, process, geochemistry, water, civil engineering and social engagement. /p h3Some Of The Key Responsibilities May Include /h3 ul liCivil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design; /li liGeotechnical analyses using various software packages; /li liUnderstanding of tailing deposition modelling (Muk3D); /li liGeotechnical and environmental site characterisation; /li liDevelopment and management of instrumentation monitoring systems; /li liTask management and proposal preparation support; /li liPreparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications. /li /ul h3Education and Licensure /h3 ul liBachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or a related field of study. (required) /li liAdvanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or a related field of study. (preferred) /li liProfessional registration (desirable but not essential) /li /ul h3Skills, Experience And Qualifications /h3 ul liKnowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software. (required) /li liKnowledge of numerical modeling tools. (preferred)Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required) /li liExperience in GIS, CAD or Tailings Modelling software (i.e. QGIS, 12d, AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Muk3D) (desirable) /li liFamiliarity with dam safety guidelines including ANCOLD, GISTM, CDA and WA-DMR (desirable) /li liExcellent writing and communication skills.
