Rob Surgical is a Barcelona-based MedTech company dedicated to transforming minimally invasive surgery through advanced robotic technology.
Over the past years, our multidisciplinary engineering teams have developed a robotic surgical platform that integrates robotics, software, electronics, mechanics, systems engineering and clinical expertise into a single surgical ecosystem designed to support surgeons and improve patient care.

Our robotic surgical platform for Urology has officially obtained CE Mark certification.
This achievement represents much more than regulatory approval. It reflects years of innovation, technical excellence and the collective effort of an extraordinary team committed to advancing surgical robotics. But for us, this milestone is not the destination. It marks the beginning of our next chapter.

As we move into commercialization across Europe and continue advancing our platform into new surgical specialties, we are looking for an exceptional

R&D; Director

to join our Executive Leadership Team.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This is not a traditional R&D; leadership role.
This is an opportunity to help shape the future of Rob Surgical during one of the most important moments in our history.

As

R&D; Director , you will define our R&D; strategy, lead our multidisciplinary engineering organization and ensure that engineering execution remains aligned with the companys strategic objectives.

You will lead the transition from late-stage product development to commercial readiness while continuing to drive the evolution of our current platform and future technologies.

Working closely with Operations, QA/RA, Medical Affairs and Commercial teams, you will help ensure successful commercialization while strengthening the engineering capabilities required to support our long-term growth.

Beyond technology, you will play a key role in developing our engineering organization, empowering future leaders and building a culture of collaboration, accountability and execution excellence.

Someone who understands that obtaining CE Mark is not the finish line—it is where the real challenge starts.

Youve successfully led engineering organizations through the transition from product development to commercial reality. You know what happens when the first systems reach hospitals, when customer feedback begins to shape product evolution, and when engineering must support manufacturing, clinical teams and commercial operations without losing the pace of innovation.

You have built and scaled multidisciplinary engineering organizations developing complex medical technologies, creating environments where robotics, software, electronics, systems engineering and mechanics work seamlessly together to deliver products that improve patient care.
More importantly, youve transformed organizations.

You know how to evolve an R&D; team from a product-focused development organization into an engineering function capable of supporting an international commercial business—balancing innovation, execution, product lifecycle management and continuous improvement.

Youre equally comfortable discussing technology strategy with engineers, product roadmap with executive leadership and market needs with commercial and clinical teams.

You believe that engineering excellence alone is not enough.

You build organizations where accountability, ownership, speed of execution and collaboration become competitive advantages.

Ideally, youve developed your career within surgical robotics or similarly complex capital medical equipment, where multidisciplinary engineering, regulatory excellence, clinical validation and commercialization must coexist seamlessly.

However, we also welcome exceptional leaders from the broader MedTech industry who have successfully led the commercialization of highly regulated, technologically sophisticated medical devices.

WHAT YOULL BRING




15+ years of progressive R&D; leadership experience within the MedTech industry, including executive responsibility for multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
Proven experience leading engineering teams through the transition from product development to commercialization.
Hands-on experience supporting CE Mark and/or FDA-approved medical devices through industrialization, commercial launch and post-market product evolution.
Demonstrated success scaling engineering organizations during periods of rapid company growth.
Strong technical background across complex electromechanical systems integrating software, robotics, electronics and mechanical engineering.
Deep understanding of engineerings role across the full product lifecycle, including design, manufacturing transfer, field support, product improvements and next-generation platform development.
Outstanding leadership skills with a proven ability to attract, develop and retain high-performing engineering talent.
You hold a Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electronics, Robotics, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline). An MBA and/or PhD would be considered an advantage.
Fluent English. Spanish is a plus.
