Food Applications Specialist - Contractor

Start: August 2026 - December 2026

Schedule: Summer hours are between 7am and 4pm and Autumn/Winter between 9am to 6pm

Location: Málaga, Spain. Role is based on-site at a customer food processing plant in a remote location. Contractor is responsible for arranging reliable transportation to and from the site .

Your Role

You'll work on-site at our customer food processing plant operating Orbem's MRI system as part of our data acquisition process.

Most of your day will involve handling fruits through different stages of the scanning workflow, ensuring every sample is processed accurately and consistently.

Your work directly contributes to improving the quality of the data, facilitating the data collection process, and performing hands‑on sample testing during the development phase of a semi‑automated MRI system.

This is a physical, hands‑on role where attention to detail matters more than technical expertise.

Operate Orbem's MRI scanning system following established procedures

Prepare and organise fruit samples for scanning

Move fruit between ripening chambers, scanning stations and classification areas

Start and monitor MRI scans

Prepare, label, track, and classify samples throughout the scanning process

Ensure data is complete,



accurate and correctly linked to each sample

Work closely with the on-site Orbem Application Specialist and remote team members

Support data collection and assist with automation installation when needed

Represent Orbem professionally, building positive relationships with customer teams and maintaining a safe and respectful working environment.

Experience and skills:

Fluent Spanish communication skills + conversational / business English.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

A practical, hands‑on approach to work.

The ability to stay focused and motivated while performing repetitive tasks.

A reliable, proactive attitude and a strong sense of ownership.

Comfort working in an industrial food production environment.

A professional attitude when working on‑site and representing Orbem at a customer facility.

Nice to have

Experience in food production, manufacturing, quality control, warehouse operations, laboratory environments, or other operational roles.

Familiarity with handling fresh produce or agricultural products.

Previous experience operating machinery or production equipment.

Experience with automation is a plus, but not required.

No previous MRI experience is required

you'll receive hands‑on training before starting the role.
