Overview
As a Design Electrical/Mechanical Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers, remediating issues, upgrading infrastructure, and adding new services. You will be the go‑to engineering resource for these projects and provide lifecycle support from design through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for data centers in your region.
- Interface with internal and external data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographic regions and act as a technical subject matter expert for your discipline.
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover. Be detail‑oriented with familiarity with design and construction processes.
- Manage engineering projects and engineering consultants. Build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS integral infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking,
power, and cooling equipment that keep our customers’ services running. You will collaborate with software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing scalable capacity at low cost.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
