Experteer Overview As Senior Risk u0026amp; Compliance Officer for Monzo’s Spanish branch, you will implement and oversee the risk management framework, ensuring robust governance across operational, conduct, and regulatory risk. You will serve as a trusted 2LOD advisor to the Spain Branch Manager and coordinate with EU risk leadership to meet local and EU requirements. You will drive regulatory engagement with authorities such as Banco de España, manage AML/CFT responsibilities as Deputy MLRO, and foster a strong risk and compliance culture across the Spanish operations. - Primary 2LOD contact for the Spanish branch; embed risk and compliance culture
- Monitor Banco de España and other regulators; integrate updates into procedures
- Draft regulatory risk and compliance reports for local and EU bodies
- Support governance and horizon scanning; maintain Risk Appetite Statement (RAS)
- Establish branch dashboards, metrics, and data analytics for risk-informed decisions
- Lead Training and awareness programs to strengthen risk culture
- Oversee operational risk, incident management, and RCSA processes
- Provide 2LOD oversight on ICT, Cybersecurity, GDPR/data protection per DORA




- Monitor PSD2/PSD3/PSR transitions and third-party risk; ensure vendor controls
- Lead compliance reviews; sign-off on marketing materials for Spain; horizon scanning
- Oversee credit risk framework and NPL trends; ensure alignment with local RAS
- Act as Deputy MLRO; support AML/CFT reporting to authoritiesResponsabilidades
- Minimum 7 years in Risk Management, Compliance, or Internal Audit in a regulated retail bank, digital bank, or fintech operating in Spain
- Deep understanding of Banco de España regulations and EU regulatory requirements (CRD V, PSD2/3, GDPR, DORA, AML/CFT)
- Experience with regulatory authorities and compliance audits
- Experience overseeing multiple risk types: Operational, ICT/Security, Conduct, Compliance, and basic Credit risk
- Native or bilingual Spanish; professional proficiency in English
- Self-starter with matrix reporting experience; ability to challenge senior leaders constructively
