Packaging Food Safety Compliance Specialist
We are looking for a Packaging Food Safety Compliance Specialist with experience in food safety, food contact materials, and packaging compliance activities within the Food & Beverage or chemical industry.
The selected professional will be responsible for coordinating testing and validation activities for packaging materials, ensuring compliance with applicable food contact material regulations and food safety requirements. This role combines technical knowledge, stakeholder coordination, and strong organizational skills to ensure that packaging materials meet all regulatory standards before approval and market release.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the collection and preparation of packaging samples, either directly or in collaboration with suppliers and manufacturing sites.
- Arrange shipment of packaging materials to accredited laboratories for food safety and compliance testing.
- Review and analyze laboratory reports, ensuring results meet applicable food contact material regulations and compliance requirements.
- Interpret test results and assess conformity against regulatory limits, industry standards, and internal requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with laboratories, suppliers, manufacturing sites, and operations teams to ensure timely completion of testing activities.
- Manage purchase orders (POs) and coordinate administrative processes related to compliance testing.
- Compile, organize, and maintain compliance documentation, declarations of compliance, test reports, and technical files.
- Provide clear technical interpretation of testing outcomes and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
- Support risk assessments and recommend corrective actions when non-compliance issues are identified.
- Ensure that packaging materials comply with relevant food safety regulations prior to approval and market release.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance, testing, and documentation processes.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Packaging Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience in food safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, packaging compliance, or related functions.
- Experience within the Food & Beverage, Packaging, or Chemical industries.
- Experience working with accredited laboratories, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and compliance-related records.
Languages
- Professional proficiency in English (minimum B2/C1).
- French is a plus.
Conditions
- Location: Barcelona, Spain.
- Working Model: Hybrid.
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Contract Duration: Initial 6-month assignment with the possibility of extension.
- Expected Start Date: September 2026.
- Travel Requirement: Approximately 5%, mainly to Paris, France.
