Offer Description A pre-doctoral position is available in the Nuclear Receptor Signaling Laboratory at the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC), Madrid, Spain. Principal Investigator: Mercedes Ricote.

Our laboratory investigates how transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms regulate metabolism and immune function, with a particular focus on nuclear receptors. Building on recent discoveries from our group (J Exp Med 2026, Nature 2023, Blood 2023, Nature Communications 2020), we are currently exploring how maternal-derived signals influence neonatal metabolic and immune development.

The PhD project will examine how maternal diet and environmental factors shape metabolic and immune programming during early life. We aim to understand how bioactive metabolites present in breast milk regulate transcriptional and epigenetic pathways controlling metabolism and immune homeostasis under physiological and disease conditions. controlling metabolism and immune homeostasis under physiological and disease conditions. The project combines mouse genetics, immunology, metabolism,

and systems biology approaches, including tissue-specific knockout mouse models, next-generation sequencing technologies (bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq), proteomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics analyses.
