We are currently seeking an exceptional MYP/DP English Language Acquisition and EAL teacher teacher to join our successful team at International College Spain.

The EAL & Learning Support Teacher enables all students to access and thrive within an inclusive international learning environment. Working collaboratively with teachers, families and specialist staff, the postholder provides targeted support for students developing English proficiency and those with additional learning needs. Through high-quality intervention, effective classroom collaboration and a commitment to inclusive practice, the successful candidate helps ensure every learner achieves their full academic, social and personal potential within the IB framework.

Candidates should be enthusiastic about teaching their subject to students in an international setting. While experience and familiarity with the MYP and DP programmes are desirable, they are not essential. We are looking for someone who is passionate about their subject and international education and committed to ongoing professional growth and student learning.

Key Tasks and ResponsibilitiesTeachingEnglish as an Additional Language (EAL)

- Assess students' English language proficiency and monitor progress.
- Plan and deliver individual, small-group and in-class EAL support.
- Develop students' academic English and language learning strategies.
- Collaborate with subject teachers to scaffold language demands across the curriculum.
- Support teachers in differentiating learning for multilingual learners.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to students, parents and staff.
- Contribute to EAL admissions, placement, monitoring and exit decisions.
- Promote multilingualism and intercultural understanding throughout the school.

Learning Support

- Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or personalised support plans.
- Provide targeted one-to-one, in-class and small-group learning support.
- Differentiate learning, adapt resources and recommend appropriate accommodations.
- Support teachers in implementing inclusive assessment arrangements.
- Use evidence-based interventions and monitor student progress.
- Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences and transition planning.
- Contribute to screening, referrals and liaison with external professionals.

Providing an Inspiring and Effective Education

- Plan effective lessons that reflect department Unit Planners, IB criteria and NAE partnerships.
- Assess student progress effectively to provide appropriate support and challenge.
- Provide regular verbal and written feedback in line with the school's assessment policy.

Collaboration and Professional Practice

- Work collaboratively with teachers to embed inclusive teaching practices.
- Contribute to collaborative planning and professional learning.
- Maintain accurate student records and reports.
- Keep up to date with best practice in EAL, inclusive education and the IB.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school, including admissions and co-curricular activities.
- Maintain accurate records of attainment using school systems and platforms.
- Prepare students for external examinations, including determining predicted grades.
- Support students undertaking MYP Personal Projects and DP Extended Essays.
- Participate in Academic Board meetings to support individual students.

PastoralEnhancing Student Wellbeing and Positive Attitudes to Learning

- Keep regular attendance records.
- Liaise with Grade Level Leaders and Counselling Teams regarding student support.
- Carry out breaktime, lunchtime and before/after school duties as required.
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Mentor older students where appropriate.
- Uphold the School Code of Conduct at all times.

Role of Tutor

- Undertake the role of Form Tutor.
- Ensure Daily Wellbeing Time and Wellbeing lessons are effective.
- Build positive relationships with students.
- Support student transitions into and out of ICS.




- Support students with CAS or Community Engagement responsibilities.

Person Specification

Essential

- Qualified teacher with recognised teaching qualifications.
- Experience teaching EAL in a secondary school.
- Experience supporting students with additional learning needs.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition and inclusive practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English.

Desirable

- Experience in an IB World School.
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning.
- Experience developing IEPs.
- Experience supporting multilingual learners across MYP and DP.
- Additional qualifications in EAL, SEND or Inclusive Education.
- Knowledge of IB assessment accommodations.
