Making a Difference for Future Generations as CFO of HEDERA

HEDERA, the Belgian public institution created to manage the financial responsibility for nuclear liabilities transferred to the Belgian State, is seeking its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its Financial Department and shape the long-term stewardship of more than EUR 16 billion in assets dedicated to the financing of radioactive waste and spent fuel liabilities.

The role

Working closely with the Federal Debt Agency, the Federal Holding and Investment Company, and the Nuclear Provisions Commission, the CFO will oversee financial governance, investment policy, risk management and annual budgeting. The role also includes reporting to Parliament, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and acting as a key contact for stakeholders including Engie, the Belgian State and other institutional partners.

Profile

We are looking for a candidate with a Master’s degree in finance, economics or law, at least 10 years’ experience in financial management, and at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role.



Strong expertise in long-term investment, financial markets, risk analysis, reporting and public-sector ethics is essential; experience with public budgeting, government affairs or nuclear-sector legislation is an advantage. The successful candidate must be trilingual in Dutch, French and English, and demonstrate impeccable professional conduct.

You will combine analytical rigour with sound judgement, flexibility and a collaborative mindset. You should be able to build consensus, communicate effectively with Parliament and the public, and represent Hedera at national and international level.
