JOB DUTIES
The researcher hired will conduct postdoctoral research within the Polymers Group at the University of A Coruña (UDC), under the supervision of Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Jaime Martín. In particular, the researcher will carry out the experimental and analytical tasks outlined in Work Package 3 (WP3: Degradation of BHJs comprising the SPC microstructure) of the ERC-CoG PARACRYST project (Grant Agreement 101086805).
Specific tasks include:
- Study of the interrelationship between the semi-paracrystalline (SPC) microstructure and the nanomorphology of donor-acceptor (BHJ) blends using techniques such as GISAXS and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) (Task 3.1).
- Evaluation of the degradation and aging of simple OSC devices, correlating the temporal evolution of SPC parameters with morphological changes and photovoltaic characteristics using accelerated lifetime testing (Task 3.2).
- Application of the acquired knowledge to develop manufacturing guidelines for organic solar cells with high longterm stability using high-performance polymers and non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs)
(Task 3.3).
JUSTIFICATION OF THE CONTRACT DURATION
The contract will be strictly tied to the execution of the scientific and technical tasks described in WP3 of the original ERC-CoG PARACRYST project proposal approved by the European Commission. The estimated duration for completing these tasks is approximately 24 months, as stipulated in the resource allocation (Staff effort) section of Annex 1 of the Grant Agreement.

Eligibility criteria
The merits claimed by applicants must be supported by documentation and met by the application deadline, in accordance with the principles of the European Commission's Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
- Academic record and degree: Hold a Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Organic Electronics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines. In addition, up to a total of 20 points will be awarded in proportion to the grades obtained in the Bachelor's degree (maximum 10 points) and Master's degree (maximum 10 points).
- Receipt of financial aid and pre-doctoral scholarships: If the candidate completed their bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree with state and/or international scholarships obtained through a competitive process, each such scholarship will be awarded 2 points, up to a maximum of 6 points.
- Specific research experience: Demonstrable experience in the fabrication, characterization, process optimization, and/or stability analysis of organic solar cells using printing methods. Up to a maximum of 25 points (at a rate of 2.5 points for every 6 months of documented experience).
- Scientific Output: Scientific articles published in high-impact, indexed international journals (JCR) related to organic/hybrid semiconductors and photovoltaic energy will be evaluated, with special attention given to first authorship (up to a maximum of 10 points) and serving as corresponding author (up to a maximum of 5 points).
Each scientific article will be awarded 5 points, and if the applicant is the corresponding author of at least one of these articles, an additional 5 points will be awarded, setting the maximum for this section at 15 points.
- Advanced technical knowledge:
Experience in the use of solution-based thin-film fabrication methodologies applicable to the project (e.g., spin coating, blade coating, inkjet printing, aerosol jet printing). Up to a maximum of 4 points (at a rate of 1 point per technique)
- Advanced programming skills: Demonstrable experience using Python code, such as handling large amounts of experimental data for analysis and presentation of results. Up to a maximum of 5 points. One point per course lasting at least 40 hours, and/or 2 points for verifiable experience on at least one project lasting one
month or more, or requiring that level of dedication.
- Knowledge of English: The working language of the European project. Up to a maximum of 5 points if a B2 (2.5 points), C1 (4 points), or C2 (5 points) level is demonstrated. If a TOEFL iBT score report is submitted, 5 points will be awarded if the test score is higher than 80 points.
- Personal interview: Conducted with candidates who exceed the 50-point threshold in the previous phases. The interview will assess technical suitability to lead the tasks of WP3 (PDoc2/PDoc3) and alignment with the objectives of the PARACRYST project. Up to a maximum of 20 points.
Technical procedural note: The process will generate a reserve list of candidates who exceed the minimum threshold of 50 points in the pre-interview evaluation.
