Optical Fiber Sensors Engineer (FOG Systems)
to join our Photonics and Quantum Sensing team.Tasks to be performed:
Implementation and assembly of optical fiber sensing subsystems and Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) setups in laboratory environmentsBuild, integrate and test optical fiber sensing subsystems and FOG setups in laboratory environmentsWork hands-on with specialty optical fibers (fusion splicing, handling and integration)Set up and execute experimental campaigns to evaluate sensor performance (noise, drift, stability)Troubleshoot and optimize optical and photonic subsystemsAnalyze experimental data and validate system performanceCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electronics, software, mechanics) to develop complete systemsDocument testing activities and support the transition from prototype to robust solutionsRequired skills, experience and candidate profile:
Degree in Physics,
Photonics, Electronic Engineering or related field3–4 years of hands-on experience in optical fiber sensors, photonic systems or FOGStrong laboratory experience in optical instrumentation, integration and testingExperience in system characterization (noise, stability, performance)Familiarity with optical lab equipment (OSA, oscilloscopes, photodetectors, etc.)Experience in fiber handling and fusion splicingProblem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot experimental setupsExperience in data analysisHigh level of technical EnglishAdditionally, we will also value experience in the following areas:
Experience in inertial sensing or precision instrumentationProgramming skills (Python, MATLAB)Experience in calibration and validation of high-performance systemsBackground in aerospace, defense or advanced optical technologiesExperience in industrialization or transition from lab to productKnowledge of environmental testing or quantum sensing technologiesThe position will be available at both our offices in Tenerife and Madrid.Flexibility to travel between these locations is required.Think Big, Do the Job & Enjoy LifeAt ARQUIMEA, we value diversity and inclusion.
