Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and culturally aware Resident Advisor (RA) to join our team. The RA will live in the residence hall with first‑year undergraduate students (18‑20 years old) from U.S. universities, serving as a cultural mentor who helps them integrate into the local culture and community. The RA will be available to students, providing support and acting as a role model, while organizing weekly open‑door mentoring sessions to touch base with the group and attending cultural activities organized by the program (welcome lunch, cooking class, etc.).

What You’ll Do

- Community Building: Foster a welcoming and inclusive community within the residence hall by encouraging mutual connection and support among students. Host weekly open‑door mentoring sessions and organize a program‑funded mid‑term social event (e.g., pizza party) to strengthen student engagement and community building.
- Mentorship and Support: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to students, helping them navigate challenges and opportunities.
- Co‑Curricular Program Support: Attend cultural activities organized by the program (welcome lunch, cooking class, neighborhood tour, etc.) and encourage student participation.
- Cultural Competency: Act as a cultural liaison between students and the local community, offering insights into Spanish and Catalan culture, customs, and norms.
- Conflict Resolution:



Mediate conflicts and facilitate constructive dialogue among residents to promote a positive living environment.
- Discipline Enforcement: Enforce residence hall and Barcelona SAE policies and regulations.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members within Barcelona SAE to support the overall objectives of the program.

Hours

September‑December 2026, approximately 10 hours per week dedicated to student support.

Compensation

€500 per month + housing.

What Makes a Great Candidate

- Must be currently studying (4th year of undergraduate, graduate student or above).
- Fluency in English (B2+) and Spanish. Catalan is a plus.
- Prior experience living or studying abroad strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience in conflict resolution is a plus.
- Adaptability and positive attitude.
- Dedicated commitment to inclusivity.
