Street Child
Barcelona
Street Child is a charity dedicated to empowering some of the most vulnerable children in the world by giving them the chance to go to school and giving their families the sustainable means to keep them there. There has never been a better time to get behind our cause; we are an ambitious and exciting international development charity and this is your chance to be a part of an incredible fundraising adventure!
We are currently looking for a full‑time (33 hours per week) Spanish intern to join us in our Barcelona office. The preferred internship duration is six months, although shorter durations can be discussed. Street Child embraces skill diversity among interns and we are happy to tailor tasks to the personal strengths and interests of the intern.
Key Tasks
Below are some examples of your responsibilities. You will spend 60% of your time on the first two tasks:
- Fundraising research: find new funding prospects, including trusts, foundations, and major donors in Spain, and contact them.
- Foundations proposal writing: write funding proposals for trusts and foundations using knowledge of previous, current, and upcoming Street Child projects.
Administrative tasks
- Support day‑to‑day office tasks, help with minute‑taking during meetings, and other administrative related tasks.
Communications
- Manage social media, update the website, and promote local and international events and the international volunteering programme.
- Manage email campaigns and translate content between Spanish and English.
- Volunteer coordination and event management: manage the existing volunteer base and help recruit new volunteers to the network.
- Business development:
build and manage collaborations and partnerships with other organisations and companies.
Benefits
You will gain valuable experience for your CV through a wide variety of tasks and regular training sessions, allowing you to improve both professional and personal skills.
As Street Child is a fairly new organisation, you will have greater responsibility than in other internships and the chance to make a real impact. Working with a young, dynamic, and international team will expose you to culturally diverse people and give you the opportunity to practise different languages.
Expenses paid – up to 150 euros per month may be reimbursed on a cost recovery basis if receipts are provided.
Requirements
Key characteristics:
- Self‑motivated, pro‑active and innovative, able to use initiative and work independently.
- Interest in the non‑profit sector and in Street Child’s mission. Willingness to be flexible, have fun, and enjoy a laugh with the team.
Areas of university studies:
- International relations, human rights, development, economics, integral affairs, marketing, or related fields.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills with a professional manner via telephone and e‑mail.
- Native Spanish level and professional English skills are required (Catalan desirable).
- Document translation skills.
- Knowledge of social media and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of the fundraising landscape in Spain and existing channels is a plus.
Application Process
Street Child welcomes applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of nationality, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or age. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
