Role Description The Coordinator of Volunteers is a part-time, remote role responsible for organizing and supporting volunteer activities across the organization. In this position, the coordinator will recruit and onboard volunteers, schedule assignments, and maintain accurate records of volunteer participation.
Day-to-day tasks include providing training and resources, responding to volunteer inquiries, and offering ongoing guidance to ensure volunteers are engaged and aligned with program goals. The coordinator will collaborate with staff to identify volunteer needs, develop outreach strategies to attract prospective volunteers, and prepare regular reports on volunteer metrics and program outcomes. This role also involves enhancing volunteer communications, fostering a welcoming environment, and helping improve processes based on feedback and data.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer management and volunteer training, with the ability to coordinate and support individuals in diverse roles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships, provide clear guidance, and resolve issues professionally.
- Background in community outreach, including engaging partners, promoting volunteer opportunities, and representing the organization in a positive manner.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple tasks, and use digital tools for scheduling, documentation, and communication.
- Knowledge of basic data tracking and reporting, with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Prior experience in nonprofit, community-based, or volunteer-focused environments is beneficial.
- Comfort working with diverse populations and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices.
- Relevant education or training in social work, community development, communications, or a related field is an asset.
