Our client is an international engineering and EPC company with more than 50 years of experience delivering turnkey projects in Water, Energy and Social Infrastructure across more than 40 countries. The company develops complex projects for governments, international organizations and multilateral development banks, managing every stage from engineering and construction to equipment supply and commissioning. Due to the continued growth of its operations in Latin America, the company is seeking to strengthen its regional project management structure.
The Position Reporting directly to Corporate Management, the Regional Director of Projects will be responsible for coordinating, supporting and supervising the Project Managers and Country Managers leading the company's operations across Central and South America, ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in compliance with corporate standards, contractual commitments and client expectations.
This strategic leadership position requires an experienced engineering professional capable of managing multidisciplinary teams operating across multiple countries, providing technical guidance, resolving complex project challenges and acting as the key link between Corporate Headquarters and regional operations.
Main Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee the execution of multiple EPC and turnkey projects across Central and South America.
Provide technical and managerial support to Country Managers and Project Directors throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project performance regarding schedule, budget, quality, HSE and contractual compliance.
Ensure consistent implementation of corporate project management methodologies, procedures and quality standards.
Support project start-up, execution, commissioning and handover activities.
Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning teams.
Report project performance, key milestones and critical issues to Corporate Management.
Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among regional project teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, government authorities and international funding institutions.
Requirements
University Degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Mechanical or equivalent).
Minimum of 15 years of experience managing large and complex engineering and construction projects.
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams across several countries.
Strong background in EPC, Design & Build or turnkey projects.
Experience in large-scale building projects is highly valued, particularly hospitals, healthcare facilities, educational buildings or other complex public infrastructure projects.
Previous involvement in projects financed by Multilateral Development Banks (IDB, CABEI, World Bank, CAF or similar) will be considered a strong advantage.
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and decision-making skills.
Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.
Availability for frequent travel throughout Central and South America.
Current residence in Central America is highly valued. Candidates with previous professional experience and residence in the region, who are available to relocate and establish residence there again, will also be considered.
