JOB LOCATION AND SCHEDULE: CICA CENTRO INTERDISCIPLINAR DE QUÍMICA E BIOLOXÍA. Monday to Friday 9:30 to 13:30 and 16:00 to 19:00 The Advanced Biofabrication for Tissue Engineering research group, led by Daniel Nieto at the University of A Coruña, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with proven experience in strategic management, fundraising, and scaling of technology and biomedical startups to work within the framework of the ORALREGENERIX project. Previous experience in deeptech, biotech, medtech, or technology spin?off companies will be highly valued.
Responsibilities Development and execution of the business plan. Securing public and private funding (venture capital, business angels, grants, EIC, CDTI, etc.). Managing investor relationships and preparing investment rounds.
Developing strategic alliances and commercial agreements. Coordinating regulatory activities and market access strategy. Overseeing organizational growth and business structuring. Representing the company before investors, partners, and public bodies.
Supporting intellectual property and commercialization strategy.
Qualifications Proven experience in managing and leading technology or biomedical startups.
Experience in investment acquisition and fundraising.
Experience in negotiating with investors and closing funding rounds.
Experience in business development and corporate strategy. Knowledge of the startup ecosystem, venture capital, and technology transfer.
Experience in regulated environments (medical devices, biotech, digital health, or similar). Knowledge of regulations and quality standards applicable to medical devices will be considered an asset.
The Following Will Be Especially Valued
Previous experience as CEO or member of the management team of startups.
Experience with university spin?offs.
Experience with CE/FDA regulatory processes.
Experience implementing quality systems (ISO or others). Previous participation in exits, M&A;, or business scaling processes. Established network of contacts with investors and strategic partners.
Additional Information
Eligibility criteria Academic Background University degree in fields related to business management, law, technology, or health sciences: up to 15 points (proportional to the score). Additional formation in general management, MBA, finance, entrepreneurship, or innovation: up to 10 points.
Startup And Executive Management Experience
Experience as CEO, COO, CFO, or board member of startups: 4 points per year. Max. 20 points.
Experience in biotech, medtech, deeptech, or digital health startups: 3 points per year. Max. 15 points.
Fundraising And Corporate Development
Participation in investment rounds and fundraising: up to €500k: 5 points; between €500k and €2M: 10 points; €2M: 20 points.
Experience with competitive grants (EIC, CDTI, H*, etc.): up to 5 points (1 point per grant).
Regulatory And Business Scaling
Experience with CE/FDA, quality, or regulatory affairs: up to 5 points.
Experience in industrialization, market access, or commercialization: up to 5 points.
Business Development And Partnerships
Experience with strategic agreements, partnerships, or international expansion: up to 5 points. Personal interview for candidates with a score above 70 points. The maximum score for the interview is 25 points, and selected candidates will be notified 48 hours in advance.
