We are looking for a senior SAM specialist primarily focused on Microsoft enterprise software, with secondary expertise in Oracle or RedHat, to join our global Software Asset Management (SAM) function. The role aims to optimize software contract spend, manage compliance, analyze data, and implement opportunities or remediate risks. It requires a broad understanding of IT technology, service management processes, and the ability to collaborate with many stakeholder groups within the Zurich Group.

Technology and Operations Software Asset Management is an international team of SAM experts across four countries that manages a multi‑million‑dollar software portfolio and SAM technology stack to support IT stakeholders in achieving their objectives. This role offers the opportunity to work at a groupwide, global level in defining and implementing 'Best Practice' methodologies related to SAM services in Microsoft and Oracle and/or RedHat.

Expect
As a Software Asset Management Specialist you will have the opportunity to: Subject matter expertise
– In-depth knowledge of SAM operations and competencies, with the ability to apply and advise on complex software licensing topics and produce ELPs for Microsoft and Oracle or RedHat across all IT environments. Understand
Microsoft licensing concepts and product use rights within containers, in on-prem and cloud operating environments. Navigate and leverage
Microsoft software‑related billing, tracking and measurement systems and tools such as Azure Active Directory, CMDB, My Access, Intune. Navigate and leverage
Microsoft and Oracle or RedHat software‑related billing, tracking and measurement systems. Provide transparency of costs for software contracts and assure fair allocation of charges to BUs and service owners based on software usage. Negotiate successfully within the organization and with external suppliers and vendors in a constructive and collaborative manner. Maintain stakeholder community and create an information‑sharing environment. Identify and drive proactive initiatives to achieve software‑related savings, mitigate compliance risks, develop best practices and processes, continuously improve software asset management service, and ensure compliance with budget and contractual requirements. Identify necessary changes and play a key role in complex software contract negotiations, manage demand and contract updates, liaise with external vendors, legal, contract and sourcing teams. Support and drive implementation of general SAM standards, processes, controls, reporting, and monitor agreed performance indicators and control metrics. Improve continuously SAM by leveraging AI capabilities to reduce manual effort, identify recurring patterns and spot optimization opportunities. Support other day‑to‑day activities of the global SAM team.

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following: Five years of relevant proven experience with: Direct responsibility and hands‑on management of Microsoft and Oracle or RedHat software portfolio in an enterprise environment (irrespective of industry). Creating comprehensive fully optimized ELPs from data collection until completion. Strong understanding of license restrictions, benefits, optimization opportunities,
BYOL concepts for product use within AWS/Azure Cloud. Active hands‑on work with general Microsoft specific system and usage billing, tracking and measurement tools. Proficient use of SAM tools (ideally FlexeraOne) and supporting data sources. Advanced hands‑on Microsoft Excel skills (V/H‑Look Ups, Pivots, Complex calculations). Proven track record in adopting and embedding AI solutions in SAM operations. Profit and Loss (P&L;) calculations and accruals for cost impact. Fluent spoken and written English (strong B2).
