Scope We are currently looking for a confident and talented World Languages Teacher who can teach Spanish and Catalan to join our Middle School and High School teams. The role requires knowledge and experience of language acquisition, proficiency‑based instruction, and language and literature curriculum.

To excel, you should have in‑depth knowledge of effective teaching practices that create a comfortable and meaningful learning experience. Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and a strong command of Spanish and Catalan Language and Literature.

Responsibilities and Duties

Design lessons and units that lead to standards mastery and are aligned to grade‑level expectations and end‑of‑year assessments.

Personalize instruction by planning a program of study that meets each student's individual needs.

Collaborate with fellow teachers, leadership, and the teaching and learning team to ensure that instruction always meets the needs of all learners.

Prepare high‑quality instructional materials in advance using a variety of resources.





Communicate regularly and often with families to share student social and academic progress.

Design and implement IB Language Acquisition and IB Language and Literature units following the Diploma Programme framework.

Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and provide timely, meaningful feedback in both Spanish and Catalan.

Use school platforms to maintain unit planners, record grades, and communicate student learning and progress.

Implement differentiated instruction and support strategies to meet the diverse linguistic and academic needs of students across proficiency levels.

Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes target language use, risk‑taking, and a love of language learning.

Participate in department meetings, school‑wide professional learning communities, and contribute to the ongoing development of the World Languages curriculum.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Filología (Spanish, Catalan, or related field) with appropriate teaching credentials. IB training and/or certification in MYP or DP Language Acquisition or Language and Literature is strongly preferred.

Nivell C de Català.

Minimum three years of recent teaching experience in Spanish and/or Catalan at the secondary level, ideally in an IB or international school context.

Familiarity with recent North American teaching materials and methodologies is a plus.

Experience with data‑driven assessment tools that facilitate differentiated instruction.

Experience working in an internationally and linguistically diverse school setting.

Effective oral and written communication within a school community.

Must be detail‑oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Must be flexible and show a positive attitude to change.

Ability to work and communicate in English.

Knowledge of proficiency‑based language teaching approaches, ACTFL standards and Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).





Proficiency in digital tools and learning management systems relevant to an IB school environment (e.g., Google Workspace).

All prospective employees must be able to clear a background check as well as a sexual offenders clearance for all other countries where the candidate has lived or worked for a period of 3 months or more, over the last 5 years. The verification process includes cross‑checking the requested references, which must cover the last five years of work.
