Mode Search is supporting a leading international luxury retail brand in the search for an experienced Assistant Manager to join its Barcelona flagship location. This opportunity is suited to a dynamic retail leader with a passion for client experience, team development, and driving commercial performance within a premium or luxury environment.
The position is based in Barcelona and operates within a retail store setting. Reporting directly to the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager will oversee day-to-day store performance, support the development of sales, operations and security teams, and assume responsibility for the store in the Store Manager’s absence. This role combines commercial leadership, operational excellence, and exceptional client service, ensuring the highest standards of customer experience are consistently delivered.
The Role
- Support the Store Manager in leading all aspects of store performance, including sales, service, operations, and team development.
- Take full responsibility for store operations and team leadership when the Store Manager is absent.
- Drive the achievement of store sales targets, category objectives, and key business performance indicators.
- Lead, motivate, and inspire the team to consistently deliver outstanding commercial results.
- Develop and execute clienteling strategies to strengthen relationships with existing clients and attract new customers.
- Maintain a strong presence on the sales floor, acting as a role model for service excellence and sales leadership.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key clients and local stakeholders.
- Drive business growth through a focus on priority product categories and strategic commercial initiatives.
- Champion a client-first culture,
ensuring every customer interaction reflects the highest standards of luxury service.
- Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, performance conversations, and in-the-moment support.
- Monitor client feedback and implement actions to continuously enhance the customer experience.
- Ensure hospitality standards and in-store experiences create memorable and differentiated customer journeys.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing talent to build a diverse and engaged team.
- Set clear objectives and performance expectations aligned with business goals.
- Support succession planning and individual development through training and coaching initiatives.
- Oversee operational processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across all store functions.
- Maintain strong back-of-house organisation and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal control standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail management, luxury retail, or a customer-focused service environment such as hospitality.
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets through effective team leadership.
- Proven ability to develop business opportunities, build client relationships, and grow market presence.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to influence and inspire teams.
- Hands-on approach with the flexibility to support both sales floor and operational activities as business needs require.
- Fluent Spanish (Catalan) and English language skills are essential.
- Additional language capabilities would be advantageous.
- Degree-level education is preferred.
- Previous gemmology studies or certification, such as GIA coursework, would be beneficial but are not essential.
