This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial judgement and can apply both to Monzo's most important and complex challenges. As a Staff Data Scientist, you'll lead efforts on strategically important, business-critical problems. You'll apply judgement in areas of organisational or technical complexity, steward initiatives end-to-end, and focus your hands-on contribution where it can create the greatest impact. You'll be a trusted technical partner to senior leaders, raise the bar for Data Science across Monzo, and build capability in others through coaching, reusable approaches and clear standards. Shape and lead the data strategy for a large domain or collective, connecting customer and commercial goals to a clear portfolio of high-impact Data Science work Identify, frame and lead strategically important problems where the path is ambiguous, dependencies span teams, and decisions involve meaningful customer, commercial, regulatory or operational trade-offs Partner with senior leaders across product, engineering, ML, design, research, risk and operations,
