Keller Executive Search is recruiting a Managing Director on behalf of our client, a fintech business in unsecured consumer lending. Based in Barcelona, this appointment offers the opportunity to lead the Spanish business, translating Group strategy into profitable, compliant local execution and supporting its longer-term growth ambitions.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will connect commercial performance, credit outcomes, finance, legal, people and customer operations. The mandate combines profitable growth with product development: strengthening longer-term lending while maintaining established product performance. Your understanding of borrowers and lending economics will shape decisions across acquisition, pricing, servicing and collections.

This is a hands-on general management opportunity with meaningful scope to influence business performance and develop functional leaders. You will turn strategy into practical priorities, coach managers and work with legal and Group specialists on regulatory implementation. The role suits an established general manager or an unsecured-lending leader ready for broader business ownership. A previous Managing Director title is not required; demonstrated readiness to lead across functions is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate Group strategy into a country business plan, budgets and execution priorities.
- Own operating-profit delivery, balancing commercial growth, credit performance and operating costs.
- Strengthen longer-term lending while protecting established product performance.
- Use borrower insights to guide segmentation, pricing, acquisition and product decisions.
- Connect digital acquisition, conversion,



servicing and collections into an effective customer journey.
- Lead functional managers across commercial, financial, legal, people and customer operations.
- Develop managers through coaching, effective delegation and clear accountability.
- Direct local regulatory implementation and relevant licensing work with legal and Group specialists.
- Establish performance reviews and communicate results, risks and business decisions to the CEO.
- Prioritize initiatives within agreed resources while maintaining controls and customer outcomes.

Additional Information

- Location: Barcelona, Spain.
- Hybrid working, approximately three office days per week, with attendance arrangements negotiable.
- Permanent appointment.
- Travel: two five-day trips annually, plus onboarding and necessary ad hoc travel.

Requirements

Essential

- Direct personal responsibility for an unsecured consumer-lending business, product, portfolio or relevant commercial or operating function.
- Sound unsecured-credit judgment and understanding of borrower needs, affordability and lending economics.
- Demonstrated commercial drive,



supported by attributable growth or performance improvements.
- Readiness for integrated business ownership, demonstrated through financial accountability, business planning and cross-functional decisions.
- Practical experience coaching and developing managers.
- Hands-on execution, sustained follow-through and effective delivery within agreed budgets and resources.
- Spanish proficiency at C2 and English proficiency at C1.
- Master's degree, MBA or equivalent qualification.
- Ability to meet an agreed Barcelona-based hybrid arrangement, accept permanent employment and undertake required business travel.

Preferred

- Experience scaling unsecured instalment lending, or transferable product-expansion and commercial-transformation experience.
- Experience directing lending-related regulatory change with legal and risk specialists.
- Operating or commercial responsibility across digital consumer-finance channels.
- Knowledge of Spain's unsecured consumer-credit market.
- Experience translating multinational Group priorities into local execution.
- Relevant banking-governance experience alongside direct unsecured-lending responsibility.
