Experteer Overview
As Principal Engineer for HV Primary Substations, you lead technically challenging substation design within a general Tu0026amp;D team. You’ll shape high‑voltage transmission solutions for 400 kV and beyond, coordinating with clients and civil teams to ensure robust, compliant designs. You drive design decisions across AIS/GIS, protection, earthing, and HVDC/HVAC integration, delivering high‑impact projects at scale. This role offers a opportunity to influence how modern grids evolve while working with a global, collaborative team.

Compensaciones / Beneficios
• Lead and manage design of primary substation systems up to 400 kV, including AIS/GIS configurations, transformer installations, switchgear layouts, and circuit breakers
• Prepare SLDs, GA layouts, equipment sizing, and layout plans for substations and transmission systems
• Perform short‑circuit, fault current, and protection design analyses to ensure system stability
• Design earthing, lightning protection, and grounding layouts for substations
• Integrate HVDC/HVAC systems and converter stations within substation designs
• Develop transformer layouts, oil containment, busduct routing, and secondary interfaces




• Optimize substation layouts for new/upgraded sites considering space and constructability
• Coordinate with civil teams for foundations, structures, and cable routes; ensure integration with primary systems
• Produce BOMs, equipment specifications, and procurement support
• Prepare electrical interconnection/termination diagrams and cable schedules
• Design auxiliary systems (cooling, power supplies, batteries) and underground HV cable routing
• Coordinate with external vendors/contractors to ensure conformance with design specs

Responsabilidades
• Master of Engineering in an engineering discipline
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent
• 10+ years of work experience; experience leading large design engineering teams
• Proven experience in HV Plant Design for large EHV Grid Substations (mandatory)
• Experience with Grid Utilities projects and familiarity with IEC/IEEE/ANSI/Australian Standards preferred
