Introduction We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Architect to lead the design, modernization, and optimization of enterprise virtualization platforms. This role is responsible for defining architecture standards, ensuring scalability, resiliency, security, and operational excellence across compute, storage, networking, and hybrid-cloud environments. The idóneo candidate will combine deep VMware expertise with strong infrastructure architecture, automation, and disaster recovery experience.

Your role and responsibilities As a Virtualization Architect in IBM Consulting, you'll serve as a technical leader responsible for defining and evolving enterprise virtualization strategies and infrastructure solutions. You'll partner with clients, stakeholders, and delivery teams to design scalable, resilient, and high-performing virtualization environments that support business growth and digital transformation initiatives.

Virtualization Strategy and Architecture Leadership

Define and maintain the virtualization architecture strategy, standards, governance, and technology roadmap aligned with business and infrastructure objectives.

Enterprise VMware Solutions Design

Architect scalable, secure, and highly available VMware-based solutions across compute, storage, networking, and hybrid cloud environments.

Infrastructure Modernization and Optimization

Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, including lifecycle management, capacity planning, performance optimization, and platform consolidation efforts.

Resiliency, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity

Design and implement disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity solutions to ensure platform availability, resiliency, and operational continuity.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Adoption

Drive automation initiatives through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), orchestration, and operational tooling to increase efficiency, standardization,



and scalability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Delivery Excellence

Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and support successful implementation and transformation programs.

Cloud and Hybrid Infrastructure Integration

Support the design and integration of virtualization platforms with private, public, and hybrid cloud environments, enabling flexible and future-ready infrastructure services.

Required technical and professional expertise

Expert-level experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, clusters, HA/DRS, and enterprise virtualization architecture.

Strong knowledge of storage and networking architectures, including SAN, NAS, VLANs, and virtual networking.

Experience designing and implementing high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.

Proven expertise in infrastructure automation, scripting, and operational optimization.

Strong architecture, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Experience designing hybrid-cloud solutions utilizing AWS.

Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud integration strategies.

Hands-on knowledge of Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern automation platforms.
