BICG is an international consultancy that helps organisations embrace New Ways of Working / New Work and supports them through their transformation journeys. We connect corporate culture, workplaces, organisational practices and technology to improve people’s experience and organisational performance.
Headquartered in Madrid with roots in Germany, BICG was founded in 1999 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute IAO. Today, our international, multidisciplinary team works with clients across Europe and Latin America. We work as a team across disciplines, sharing knowledge and supporting one another throughout our projects.
THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced architect or interior architect who is keen to apply their expertise to workplace strategy and consulting projects for the German market.
You will play an active role in client relationships: understanding their needs, facilitating working sessions, presenting recommendations and helping different project stakeholders reach agreement.
Your architectural judgement will be key to translating business objectives and people’s needs into workplace solutions. Your day-to-day work will have a strong focus on consulting, facilitation, and client and stakeholder management, alongside contributing to the design and review of architectural proposals.
You bring an agile, flexible approach, confidence in working with clients and colleagues, and fluency in German.
The role is based in Madrid and involves occasional travel to clients in Germany and, depending on project needs, other European destinations. We are looking for someone who can join as soon as possible.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
· Analyse how organisations work and gather their requirements through interviews, workshops and sessions with department heads and users.
· Develop workplace strategies and concepts that connect business objectives, corporate culture and people’s experience.
· Work directly with clients and oversee the workstreams within your remit.
· Design and facilitate workshops to explore needs, review proposals and support decision-making.
· Manage relationships with project stakeholders, align expectations and help build agreement across different interests.
· Negotiate priorities and solutions with project stakeholders in coordination with the project lead.
· Prepare and present recommendations, proposals and findings clearly and persuasively, including in German.
· Develop and review architectural proposals, applying sound judgement on design, functionality and feasibility while taking applicable regulations into account.
· Collaborate with architecture, change management and communications teams to deliver an integrated response to client needs.
· Take responsibility for your work and coordinate closely with colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting the team to ensure quality and meet deadlines.
· Travel occasionally to clients in Germany and other European destinations as required by projects.
YOUR PROFILE
· You hold a university degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture.
· You have substantial experience in architectural or interior design projects. Experience in office or workplace projects is an advantage; prior workplace consulting experience is not required.
· You are fluent in German and can lead meetings, facilitate workshops, negotiate and present proposals in the language.
· You are fluent in English and comfortable working in an international environment.
· You can guide discussions towards clear conclusions and practical next steps, and are keen to develop your workshop facilitation skills.
· You are a skilled negotiator who can address differences of opinion constructively.
· You have experience working with clients and a range of stakeholders, listening to their needs and managing their expectations.
· You combine architectural judgement with analytical skills and an interest in developing your consulting expertise.
· You communicate complex ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, and create presentations that support decision-making.
· You are agile and flexible, adapting to different projects, stakeholders and changing priorities.
· You bring initiative and accountability alongside a strong team spirit. You share knowledge, support colleagues and work towards shared project goals.
· You live in Madrid or are willing to relocate.
· You are available for occasional travel to Germany and other European destinations.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
· Experience working with clients in the German market.
· Knowledge of workplace strategy methodologies and New Ways of Working.
· Experience in change management or participatory processes involving users.
· Knowledge of German regulations applicable to offices and workplaces.
· Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft 365 tools.
· Spanish and/or French language skills.
Interviews will be conducted in English and German.
WHAT WE OFFER
· A permanent employment contract with a Spanish company.
· A role based in Madrid with occasional travel to clients in Germany and other European destinations.
· Adaptable working hours and the option to work remotely.
· International projects connecting architecture, people and organisational transformation.
· Responsibility and direct client contact within multidisciplinary teams that develop and deliver projects together.
· Opportunities to deepen your expertise in workplace consulting, facilitation and change management.
· An international team with an open, collaborative culture, where colleagues share knowledge, support one another and communicate openly.
· Additional days off at Christmas and Easter.
· Tax benefits through a flexible remuneration scheme (Flexoh).
· Company events.
· Access to discounted Sanitas private health insurance rates for you and your family.
