OverviewIn this role you will steer the technical direction of core personalization services to improve content discovery across Dow Jones products.

You will work within the Personalization team, collaborating with Product, Data Analytics, Platform Engineering, and Editorial teams to translate user and business needs into reliable systems.

You'll shape candidate retrieval, scoring, and ranking, while driving ML-based improvements at scale and ensuring system reliability.

This is a senior IC role with hands-on delivery, architectural leadership, and mentorship, offering a meaningful impact on how millions of readers find relevant journalism.

ResponsabilidadesDesign, build, and operate personalization services powering content recommendations

Lead evolution of personalization workflows from candidate generation to ranking and cold-start

Scale ML-based ranking, including model integration, feature development, evaluation, and tuning

Own architectural design, production quality, scalability, latency, observability, SLOs,



and incident learning

Set engineering direction through design docs, architecture decisions, code reviews, and mentorship

Improve CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and containerized deployments, leveraging AI-assisted tools when suitable

Requisitos principales7+ years of software engineering experience in high-performance, distributed backend systems (TypeScript and Node.js preferred)

Experience as technical lead or senior IC owning architecture and guiding teams

Production RESTful APIs and GraphQL service design and implementation

Experience with multi-region, multi-environment systems and CI/CD, high availability, disaster recovery

Hands-on infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) and automated deployment tools

Docker and Kubernetes in production deployments

Experience using LLMs in production (content labeling or embeddings); GenAI is a plus

Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience leadership and mentorship strong collaboration across cross-functional teams ability to translate complex requirements into reliable systems
