Domestic Couple: House Manager/Head Housekeeper and Driver/Houseman
We are seeking an experienced domestic couple to take ownership of the main house on a private estate in Oxfordshire. One partner will lead the day-to-day running of the house as House Manager/Head Housekeeper. The other will support as Driver/Houseman, looking after driving, errands and practical upkeep.
This is a hands-on role for a couple who enjoy being involved in the household and take pride in keeping a home well run. The house welcomes family and guests regularly, so the work moves between quiet weeks and busier periods of entertaining and service. The idóneo couple will be practical, warm and confident with guests, as comfortable setting a table for a dinner or stepping in with housekeeping as they are bringing structure to an established team. This is not a formal "white glove" position but they do value high standards and attention to detail. They want someone who is hands-on, proactive and happy to get stuck in wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities
House Manager/Head Housekeeper

- Take ownership of the day-to-day running and standards of the main house.
- Manage and coordinate the housekeeping team, and step in hands-on when needed.
- Oversee laundry, wardrobe care and turn-down.
- Prepare the house for the family and their guests.
- Set tables and support service when guests are in, and help coordinate mealtimes with the chef.
- Look after front-of-house, keeping the house organised as the family and guests come and go.
- Work closely with the existing staff and help everyone work well as a team.
Driver/Houseman

- Drive and run errands for the household as required.
- Carry out general property maintenance and light repairs.
- Help with practical household tasks, including fires and firewood.

Requirements

- Previous experience as a domestic couple in a private residence or estate
- A House Manager or Head Housekeeper background, with experience leading a housekeeping team
- Confident with guests, entertaining and table service; butler or yachting experience is a plus
- Hands-on and practical, comfortable joining an established teamGood longevity in previous roles and references from private households
- A clean UK driving licence
- Full right to work in the UK
- Cooking experience is useful but not essential
