Overview

In this role you will help strengthen Elasticsearch’s core platform, making it easier to use, faster, maintainable, and secure. You’ll work on foundational infrastructure, shared services, and observability to empower developers and users. You’ll design scalable APIs and tackle performance and concurrency challenges, contributing to serverless orchestration and CI/CD workflows. This is a hands-on, impactful role with cross-team collaboration and a focus on meaningful open-source and cloud/on-premise outcomes. You will drive technical decisions that shape the platform’s future.

Responsabilidades

- Contribute to large, impactful projects that evolve core Elasticsearch infrastructure
- Identify and implement automation to improve developer productivity
- Design and implement new horizontally-scalable features and APIs
- Address performance and concurrency issues and propose solutions




- Improve operation and observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems
- Collaborate openly with the ES team, Elastic users, and open source projects
- Support engineers with difficult problems
- Own end-to-end operational investigations until issues are resolved

Requisitos principales

- Experience crafting APIs and ability to reason through tradeoffs
- Proficiency in core Java and data structures/concurrency
- Experience with low-level Java (concurrency, parallelism, classloaders)
- Knowledge of JDK internals (modules, memory model, GC, caching)
- Experience leading large-scale projects across engineering teams
- Willingness to own projects from start to finish and collaborate across teams
- Track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code
- Ability to work autonomously and drive decisions in a distributed team
