Overview

In this role you will own and evolve the service mesh to ensure reliability, performance, and security across our cloud-hosted platform. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to improve security, scalability, and availability, while adopting modern cloud-native practices. The position combines hands-on engineering with strategic ownership of network and service mesh domains in a fast-moving, security-focused environment. You’ll be at the heart of platform reliability, influencing incident response and on-call practices to keep N26 running smoothly.

Responsabilidades

- Design, implement and maintain the service mesh to ensure reliability, performance and security of services
- Develop systems and solutions to improve security, reliability, scalability and availability across service mesh, internal networking, partner connectivity, secrets management and service discovery
- Own the service mesh and underlying network stack, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
- Create monitors and alerts,



diagnose and resolve service mesh issues to ensure high availability
- Collaborate with other teams to bring critical new features to N26
- Stay current with service mesh industry trends and new technologies
- Identify and automate repetitive tasks
- Monitor system health and participate in on-call rotations

Requisitos principales

- Professional experience as an SRE or DevOps engineer
- Hands-on production experience with AWS
- Knowledge of Go and/or Python
- Broad understanding of Linux systems and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and service mesh implementations (Istio)
- Performance monitoring and incident analysis
- Knowledge of Git, CI/CD, Terraform, Vault, Consul, Salt/Ansible
- Proactive with high autonomy
- Desire to learn and improve systems

- Mentoring and supporting junior/mid-level engineers
- Ability to lead tech projects and discuss complex topics with engineering teams
