About us eRoots Analytics is a technology startup developing breakthrough software and analysis for modern power systems. Founded in 2022, we are a team of 20+ specialists focused on solving the challenges of modern grids with high penetration of power electronics resources.

The company was created with support from The Collider accelerator program, an initiative of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona. We are bringing to the market technologies developed by the CITCEA-UPC group at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, which has a strong academic record of accumulated research on the emerging field of modern power systems, going from long-term energy planning to microsecond-scale simulations. Your profile

We are looking for a software engineer to own the infrastructure and data behind our products. You will run and automate large simulation workloads on our servers and in the cloud. You will also look after the databases that store market and grid data, and keep our pipelines reliable from data input to client results. You do not need a power systems background as you will work closely with our power systems engineers.

Must have

- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field.
- Strong Python skills, and experience writing maintainable, tested code with git.
- Solid experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL. This includes schema design, query performance and migrations.
- Experience administering Linux servers, with SSH, process supervision, storage and backups.
- Experience building data pipelines that ingest, validate and store large datasets, for example from external APIs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and automated deployment.
- A rigorous approach to monitoring, debugging and finding the root cause of failures.
- Full professional proficiency in English.

- Availability to work in our Barcelona office at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

- Experience with cloud providers (for example Hetzner or AWS) and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with Docker, job schedulers, or distributed and parallel computing.
- Experience with Supabase or similar managed database platforms.
- Experience with time-series data and data quality checks.
- Basic knowledge of numerical computing (numpy, scipy) or C++.
- Experience working productively with AI coding assistants.
- An interest in power systems and electricity markets.

What you will do

- Design, run and monitor our compute infrastructure across in-house machines and cloud servers.
- Build pipelines that run long simulation campaigns, resume after failures and keep results safe and traceable.
- Maintain and improve our PostgreSQL databases of market, grid and simulation data.
- Automate the ingestion of external data sources, such as the Spanish system public APIs.
- Own CI/CD, deployments, backups and storage management.
- Work with our engineers to make the simulation software faster, more reliable and easier to run.
