Overview

Lead a distributed team of ~12 engineers in the Chat platform within Elastic’s Agents and Context group. You will own the Chat roadmap delivery, align with PM and Tech Lead, and ensure timely, high-quality releases. You’ll hire, coach, and manage performance while shaping team processes for an async-first, diverse organization. This role combines people leadership with hands-on product delivery in a fast-moving AI and search-focused environment. You’ll work to make conversational AI reliable, grounded, and scalable for customers at scale.

Responsabilidades

- Own delivery of the Chat roadmap and milestones; assess risks and ensure predictable shipping
- Run end-to-end hiring: job descriptions, interviews, sourcing, onboarding
- Coach and develop engineers with 1:1s, clear expectations, feedback
- Conduct performance management: promotions, development plans, addressing underperformance
- Collaborate with Tech Lead, PM, data science, UX,



and other teams on priorities and quality signals
- Improve team processes (planning, async communication, release, on-call) via consensus and clear writing
- Represent the team to leadership and stakeholders

Requisitos principales

- Proven track record as an engineering manager for software teams (hiring, coaching, promotions, performance management)
- Experience delivering large multi-team initiatives in a distributed, async-first environment
- Hands-on software engineering experience as a senior contributor with TS/Node/React stack and Elasticsearch-backed systems
- Familiarity with LLM applications (RAG, agents, tool use, evaluation, prompt/context engineering)
- Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, search and information retrieval (plus)
- Product sense and ability to set and communicate priorities in ambiguous environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication; concise long-form writing; empathetic, calm leadership
