At Robert Walters, we are looking for a

Senior Active Directory Engineer / Architect to lead the design, modernization and optimization of Active Directory and Hybrid Identity environments for a leading international healthcare diagnostics group operating across multiple countries.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, define and implement the target Active Directory architecture across a complex, multi-domain enterprise environment.

- Assess existing AD infrastructures, identify architectural weaknesses and drive remediation and modernization initiatives.

- Improve OU structures, delegation models, Group Policy design and security standards.

- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex Active Directory, authentication and hybrid identity issues.

- Ensure seamless integration between on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including directory synchronization and federation.

- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, driving architectural decisions and supporting implementation.

- Define best practices and standards for Active Directory security, resilience, backup and recovery.

- Collaborate with infrastructure, security and application teams across international environments.

- Translate architectural recommendations into actionable technical solutions, remaining hands-on throughout implementation.

Requirements

- Extensive experience designing,



implementing and managing enterprise Active Directory environments.

- Deep technical knowledge of Active Directory architecture, including multiple domains, trusts, OU structures, delegation and Group Policy.

- Strong expertise in

Microsoft Entra ID

(Azure AD) and

Hybrid Identity environments.

- Hands-on experience with Entra ID Connect / Cloud Sync, identity synchronization and federation technologies.

- Solid understanding of authentication mechanisms, identity security and access infrastructure.

- Experience with Exchange Hybrid and identity-related dependencies across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Intune.

- Ability to troubleshoot complex identity infrastructures and resolve legacy architectural issues.

- Proven ability to combine architectural vision with hands-on technical implementation.

- Strong technical leadership, problem-solving and communication skills.

- Ability to work autonomously, drive projects end-to-end and collaborate with international teams.

- Professional proficiency in English

, with the ability to communicate effectively in an international environment.

Nice to have:

- Exposure to broader Microsoft 365 services.

- Knowledge of Identity Governance or Privileged Access Management solutions.
