Your Task

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer with advanced experience in Ansible, AWX, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (RHAAP/AAP), Python, and Git to join a service focused on evolving and enhancing the client's automation capabilities. The selected candidate will design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for production environments. They will also contribute to the operation of AWX and RHAAP and support the progressive transition from AWX to the Red Hat automation platform.

The work will follow a Configuration as Code approach: code and configuration will be maintained in repositories, with version control, peer review, change traceability, and controlled promotion across environments. The role also involves collaborating with the client's teams on integrating automation solutions with ServiceNow and automating the DigiCert certificate lifecycle. A high degree of technical autonomy, the ability to solve complex problems, and a willingness to transfer knowledge to the client's team are required.

Responsibilities

- Manage and maintain the automation backlog: analyse requests, gather requirements, support prioritisation, and track progress.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain automation solutions using Ansible and Python, applying best practices in quality, reusability, security, and operational maintainability.
- Apply Configuration as Code principles to platform and automation configurations, maintaining them in repositories and ensuring changes are subject to review and controlled promotion.
- Administer and support AWX, including organisations, projects, inventories, credentials, permissions and RBAC, jobs, workflows, schedules, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Create, adapt, and maintain Execution Environments, managing images, dependencies, and collections.
- Review and improve existing Ansible content and prepare it for evolution and migration to RHAAP/AAP.
- Support the configuration, operation, and lifecycle management of RHAAP/AAP, including the progressive migration of content and schedules from AWX and validation with process owners.
- Prepare automation solutions to be triggered from ServiceNow and collaborate with the team responsible for the platform on integration design, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in the automation of the DigiCert certificate lifecycle, including issuance, renewal, deployment, and monitoring.
- Apply code review, testing, change management, and traceability practices.
- Analyse and resolve incidents affecting AWX/RHAAP and delivered automation solutions, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Produce technical documentation, operating procedures, and supporting evidence.
- Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions with the client's team, where appropriate.
- Report on backlog progress, deliveries, KPIs, incidents, and service risks.

Your Profile

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer with advanced experience in Ansible, AWX, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Python, and Git to design, develop,



and maintain automation solutions in production environments with a high degree of technical autonomy and problem-solving capabilities.

Must Have Skills

- Strong senior-level experience with Ansible and AWX, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automation solutions in production environments
- Advanced experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (RHAAP/AAP)
- Strong command of playbooks, roles, and collections, as well as inventories, variables, handlers, dependencies, and reusable structures
- Experience administering and operating AWX, including organisations, projects, inventories, credentials, permissions and RBAC, job templates, workflows, schedules, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Experience with Execution Environments, including creating or adapting images, managing dependencies and collections, and troubleshooting execution issues
- Advanced Python programming skills, with the ability to develop maintainable tools, modules, integrations, and automation solutions, as well as analyse and debug existing code
- Advanced experience with Git in collaborative environments, including branch management, merge requests, code reviews, conflict resolution, version tagging, and change traceability
- Ability to define and implement Git workflows supporting Configuration as Code and controlled promotion of changes across environments
- Strong Linux knowledge and experience using Bash for scripting
- Experience testing, documenting, and supporting automation solutions in production environments
- Ability to analyse complex incidents and work autonomously
- Autonomy and technical judgement appropriate for a senior-level role
- Ability to organise work and manage priorities within a changing backlog
- Proactive mindset and focus on continuous improvement
- Strong attention to quality, security, traceability, and solution maintainability
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with platform, ServiceNow, security, and process-owner teams
- Willingness to share knowledge and strengthen the autonomy of the client's team
- Ability to clearly communicate progress, blockers, risks, and technical decisions

Nice to Have Skills

- Experience migrating from AWX to RHAAP/AAP
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in Managing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform exam
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in Developing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform exam
- Experience integrating Git repositories with CI/CD processes and knowledge of branching strategies and release management
- Knowledge of Event-Driven Ansible, including activation rules and event-driven responses
- Knowledge of Ansible Automation Hub and the management and consumption of certified or validated collections
- Knowledge of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and its potential applications for integrating automation tools and services




- Experience with DigiCert or other certificate lifecycle management solutions
- Knowledge of Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
- Experience with GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or other CI/CD tools
- Knowledge of PowerShell for Windows-related automation
- Experience in regulated environments or environments with audit, evidence, and GxP validation requirements
- Knowledge of Docker, SonarQube, or JFrog Artifactory
- Experience in service management, change management processes, and platform support
- Experience or knowledge of ServiceNow integration with Ansible/AWX/RHAAP, using Integration Hub, APIs, or webhooks, including triggering automation workflows and exchanging statuses and results
