Our partner is looking for a Backend Engineer based in Spain. As a Backend Engineer, you will join a small, highly autonomous engineering team focused on developing innovative product initiatives and scalable backend solutions. You will design and build high-performance services that power a integral analytics platform used by thousands of publishers. Working primarily with Node. js and TypeScript, you will contribute to backend architecture, API development, and data-intensive systems. You will collaborate closely with product, data, and frontend teams to transform complex requirements into reliable, efficient solutions. AI-powered coding tools will be an integral part of your development workflow, offering opportunities to explore new ways of building software. Accountabilities - Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and applications using Node. js and TypeScript. - Work with large-scale data systems and relational and non-relational databases, including MySQL, MongoDB, and ClickHouse. - Ensure backend services meet high standards of performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. - Develop efficient data models and optimize queries, latency, and system performance. - Collaborate closely with product managers, data specialists, and frontend engineers to deliver effective product solutions. - Work within an Agile development environment, participating in short, focused development cycles. - Integrate AI-powered development tools into everyday workflows to improve productivity, code quality,



and engineering efficiency. - Contribute to testing strategies, deployment processes, and continuous integration and delivery practices. - Requirements: - At least 5 years of professional experience developing and maintaining backend services in production environments. - Strong proficiency in Node. js and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern backend development practices. - Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases, such as MySQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse, or comparable columnar database technologies. - Strong knowledge of API design, data modeling, and web architecture. - A performance-oriented mindset, with a good understanding of query optimization, latency management, scalability, and efficient data processing. - Practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar solutions as an integral part of the development workflow. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment practices, including tools such as Docker, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins. - Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies. - Professional proficiency in both Spanish and English. Experience working with ClickHouse or other OLAP and columnar database technologies. - Familiarity with real-time data pipelines, streaming technologies, Kafka, or event ingestion APIs. - Experience building and maintaining data-intensive backend services at scale.
