About the Position:

Axmed is a B2B marketplace for medicines, removing the barriers patients and caregivers across low and middle income countries (LMICs) face when seeking quality medicines. Our engineering team already works at the leading edge of AI-assisted development, and we intend to stay there.



We are hiring a Head of Engineering to turn a clear vision for how Engineers work with AI into the way the whole team works, every day.

What you'll own

- The engineering team, including QA: all engineering reporting lines, team structure, hiring and performance

- How we build with AI: the workflows, from agent-driven development to stacked pull requests, and the guardrails that keep output secure and reliable

- Quality upstream: making sure the team spends its time teaching the machine to execute well, not just executing

- Architecture: facilitating the big technical discussions and making the calls on how our workflow-based platform evolves

- Hands‑on code: prototyping and shipping to uncover new opportunities and better ways of working

- Engineering strategy alongside the CTO and product lead, and our relationships with technology partners such as Google and AWS

What success looks like in your first 6 months

- The full engineering team, including QA, reports into you, and day‑to‑day engineering execution runs through you

- A defined AI engineering workflow is live across the team, with clear guardrails and usage and quality metrics reviewed monthly

- At least one change to team structure or engineering practice led end to end,



with a measurable improvement in delivery speed or quality

What we're looking for:

Skills

- People leadership: at least 4 years as an engineering manager

- AI in your own workflow: you build with AI tools and agents day to day and can explain exactly how you make sure the output is right

- Leading change: you have reshaped an engineering org or introduced new engineering practices yourself, and can show how it played out

Experience

- Engineering leadership in a marketplace or SaaS platform business

- Building workflow-based platforms with complex state management, such as approval flows or order lifecycles

- Familiarity with business process modelling, such as BPMN

- Changing how an existing team works, not only building a new team from scratch

Traits

- Confident enough to challenge senior leaders, with the experience to back it up

- Hands‑on: you show rather than tell

- Drives change and stays steady when not everyone welcomes it
