ABEI ENERGY is a leading International Independent Power Producer (IPP) dedicated to generating clean and renewable energy from diverse sources, including photovoltaic, wind, BESS and biomethane. With an expanding presence in Spain and key international markets such as the USA, UK, Italy, Poland, Germany and Mexico. This role is responsible for the design and engineering of all ABEI data centers in the USA and Europe, helps ABEI understand the technology, and leads a team of 1-2 people. The position must be based in Madrid, Spain. It reports to the Director of New Technologies.

What You'll Do
• Be accountable for the design and engineering of all ABEI data center projects in the USA and Europe.
• Join the creation of new projects, applying design knowledge to maximize the power capacity of the sites identified.
• Optimize existing projects in the portfolio (layout, power density, phasing, efficiency).
• Know what the market wants and the current design preferences of hyperscalers and tenants, and translate them into ABEI design standards.
• Track the evolution of data center technology (cooling, power architecture, rack density, AI workloads) and anticipate its impact on projects under development.




• Lead and develop a team of 1-2 engineering and design technicians (layouts and related support).
• Coordinate with the Development, Grid, Environmental and Legal teams, and with external engineers and consultants.
• Help ABEI leadership understand the technology and its implications for project value and risk. Minimum Requirements Required Qualifications
• 5-10 years of experience in data center design and engineering.
• Proven experience designing or engineering data center projects from concept to construction.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small technical team.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or a related field).
• Ability to travel between the USA and Europe as needed.
• Based in Madrid, Spain (required) and eligible to work in Spain. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with hyperscale or AI-ready data center design, including high-density and liquid cooling.
• Experience in the early development phase (site capacity assessment, yield and power maximization).
• Understanding of power infrastructure, grid interconnection and behind-the-meter generation.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technology to non-technical decision-makers.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
