We are seeking an experienced Grid Code Compliance Engineer to support utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the Extremadura region of Spain. The candidate will be responsible for managing the grid code compliance process, from initial technical assessments and simulation studies through testing, commissioning, documentation and final operational approval.

Key Responsibilities

- Interpret and translate applicable Spanish and European grid connection requirements, including Requirements for Generators (RfG), into project-specific compliance requirements.

- Develop and maintain grid code compliance matrices for each plant, considering plant category, voltage level and grid connection conditions.

- Review and validate plant models and electrical simulation studies submitted as part of the grid connection process.

- Assess short-circuit studies, voltage stability, reactive power control and Fault Ride Through (FRT) performance.

- Verify inverter and Power Plant Controller (PPC) models against the equipment installed at the project site.

- Plan, coordinate and witness on-site grid code compliance tests for Solar PV and BESS installations.

- Oversee testing activities covering reactive power capability, active power control, frequency response, voltage control, Fault Ride Through (FRT) performance and power quality measurements.

- Coordinate testing schedules and procedures with EPC contractors, inverter suppliers and grid operators.

- Review test results, identify performance gaps and coordinate corrective measures and re-testing where required.





- Provide technical guidance to site and engineering teams regarding equipment settings, protection systems and control coordination.

- Assess the impact of design modifications and equipment changes on grid code compliance.

- Support re-testing and additional technical assessments following plant modifications.

- Respond to technical queries and compliance-related comments from grid operators during the plant's early operational phase.

Requirements

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in grid code compliance, power systems engineering or renewable energy commissioning.

- Proven experience supporting grid connection and compliance activities for utility-scale Solar PV, wind or BESS projects.

- Strong understanding of Spanish and European grid connection regulations and applicable Requirements for Generators (RfG).

- Knowledge of inverter-based renewable energy systems, Power Plant Controllers (PPC), substations and grid integration.

- Familiarity with grid connection procedures and approval processes in Spain or other European markets.

- Experience using power system simulation tools such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or equivalent power system analysis software.

- Strong technical documentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to coordinate with EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants and grid operators.

- Professional proficiency in English is essential.

- Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred.

- Previous experience with utility-scale Solar PV and hybrid Solar PV + BESS projects in Spain will be an advantage.
